    Battle Coms (BF2 VOIP)

Hey there, this is my first post here so go easy willya?

I've been looking all over the place for some info on the BF2 voice system. I'm suprised there aren't more threads about this, but I guess most of the hardcore are using Vent or other 3rd party VOIP apps.

The thing is, I like being able to talk to the random people that I play with when I'm in a game on my own. There's nothing like being able to talk to get some good teamwork going. When the Battle Com works, it's great.
This leads me to why I'm posting...

WTF is up with Battle Com only working *sometimes*? I check my mic in the audio options test and it works fine every time. Then in game it only seems to work about half the time... maybe less.

    So I ask;
Are there any known issues with low RAM, Firewalls, routers, etc?
    Is this a common problem?
Got any suggestions that might help with the issue?

    Thanks in advance!

Its server side, many companies have it worked out. TrinityGaming servers have VoIP working 98% of the time I am on them.

Most people that are using vent \ ts have voip turned off because of the frame \ packetloss

Hmm... not exactly the sort of responces I was looking for.
I was kinda sorta hoping that someone would actually READ the question!
          :p
Then it would be nice if someone knew something about possible answers.

The issue is not likely to be simply server side.
I've been in servers where my buddies could talk, but I couldn't. I've been in and able to talk, but my buddies couldn't respond.

To clearify, when it's not working for me, it still shows the green Transmit Icon to me when I press to talk. It does NOT show up at the other end. Thus, it's not a problem with my mic set up (I've also tested it every way possible). The exact same thing happens in reverse. They see their own talk icon, but I don't.

FYI, I did some tests and running TS or Vent causes more issues than using the built in Battle Com. The instances of packet loss/lagg go up using 3rd party software and the drain on local resources is higher (RAM and CPU cycles).

The other main reason I'm liking the in-game Voip is purely organizational. When there's a bunch of us in, we often don't want to all be in the same squad. Large squads aren't efficant. We prefer 3 or 4 player per squad. Using Vent becomes a pain due to cross-talk. I really only want to be talking to my squad... and sometimes to the other SLs.

It would be well worth your time to get friendly with the in game system.
Er, so long as it's issues can be figured out!
