ok, so this gun seems WAY less powerful which doesnt make sense. i have questions about the "6" and "8" in the scope...are those 600 and 800 meters? it makes sense but i dont know...should i be using those as my center of the crosshair? are there any other tips and/or tricks to using this seemingly worthless gun...? thanks

Its the same power as the M24, except it can penetrate armored glass. It has slightly more deviation than the M24 though. Yes the 6 and 8 mean 600 and 800 meters. You will never shoot anything that far so dont worry about it. You'll usually never engage anything over 250m, and 90% of your shots will be 150m or less. I've only used the "3" on the scope on time when engaging a target at 320m (given from the flag he was near).Originally posted by DanegerousDS
Its not a worthless gun, but I find it more useful aiming for the torso rather than the head, then drawing my pistol and finishing them off with that.
If you are on USMC team, you should use the M24, the M95 is a good bolt action alternative for the PLA/MEC teams.
Personally I think the USMC should have had the 10 shot M21 (on par with the other armies) and the M24 would have been the unlock, but that would have made sense. -

the chinese basic sniper rifle is fantastic. i love the huge clips and semi-auto action. nothings worse than centering in, shooting than having to **** and re-center before firing again...hmmmComment

I've found the numbers on the side to be completely useless. I just use the center of the crosshair, aim and fire.
It does do significant damage to infantry, it only leaves about two bars if they're hit in the chest area. I always aim for the neck seems to give me a 50/50 chance of killing or at least hitting them.
I found that you need a clear area to be shooting from if you're hiding behind a tree, rocks, or an incline chances are you'll miss every shot. It's like with the AT rockets, the scopes are tweaked funny.
Slowly take aim if you move around quickly, shooting will result in a lot of misses.Comment

sorry to say that the numbers have no use at all.
The scope is merely copied from the standard scope that comes with the rifle.
Although i cannot be arsed to explain exactly how the numbers are used ( and why different scopes have different crosshairs , like the M24 and the SVD in BF2 ) but it is NOT only for hitting target somany yard further with.
A real sniper rifle has an adjustable scope and the setting of the scope depends on the range given by the spotter, so you would never need these numbers with a properly adjusted scope.
as far as the damage concerns.. the damage of the M95 in BF2 is a joke but this has been discussed many times.Comment

When Im using the M95, it seems less accurate than the M24, but if you leave the crossshair over a target for about 2 seconds, its a garenteed hit. Thats why people say they cant hit anything with the M95 at close-medium range, its because they dont leave the crosshair over the target for about 2 secs.Comment

Does anyone know how much the m95 actually weighs? Because, from what I've seen that rifle looks too ridiculously heavy to be shooting while standing like in the game.

Ugh... Again people commenting on how the M95 does the same damage as the M24.
Folks, understand that there is a more complex system at work behind the damage system than the simple damage numbers!
The M95 has much better armor penetration than ANY other weapon. This means that it not only will it shoot through walls and armored glass, but it will also bypass armor ratings on Support and Assualt classes.
Try it.
Get a buddy to go support and hold still while you nail him in the chest with both weapons. The M24 will not do as much damage as the M95.
So no, it doesn't make a big difference when you shoot unarmored classes (medic, spec opps) or place a headshot (no armor on heads for any class), but atleast try to understand what's really going on with this weapon, k?
BTW, I'm a lousy sniper so I don't really give a damn :pComment

This is what I meant by same damage. 95 is 95... and like the poster above... it still means two shots to the chest regardless which rifle you are using. I try for headshots nearly every time, so I prefer the M24 anyway.Originally posted by Wargimp
