first of all: very off topic for a battlefield 2 forum but i think i see what desire is stirred up.

Not a very popular genre anymore but indeed lockon is the last released, imho not the best at all though.
If your looking for simulation the falcon series is probably what u want.
If your looking for a good balance between top-gunnism and combat simulation i'dd go for the ol' jetfighter 3 skool.

Lock on is extremely annoying, click Abbasfdd charlie7 to activate passive agressive on locking rv70029 section bravo 2948 of your radar and then press 9azf22 to use Aim23842 counter jamming missiles :|:

But the fights can get cool.

Wings over vietnam, strike fighters is decent, lock on:flaming cliffs expansion and soon the tigershark expansion too.
