Do a traceroute to the server using an app like pingplotter. That should show you where the problem is.

It may be a problem with having your firewall turned on. Almost always when i leave it on i get this problem. Turning it off should help you. Also try manually updating punkbuster.

I have no additional firewall, all i have is the windows one. Do you think it's a good idea to turn this one off too? BTW I dont think its a firewall issue because the first 3 months of BF2 ran flawlessly but since like 2-3 weeks ago i get constant disconnects because of connection probs.

Just yesterday the same thing happened to me playing on "La Cantina". I would join, play for 2 minutes, my screen would freeze, and it would bring me to the BF2 main menu telling me there is a problem with my connection. This happened 4 times. I rebooted and it hasnt happened since.

Mine started after the 1.03 upgrade. now I get 2-3 "stalls" a game. It doesn't CTD, it just freezes for 10 seconds and then continues on. It is quite annoying.

this is the same for me, i have a 1.5 meg connection but when i try to join a server is always says "connection to server lost, please check internet connections and try again" and this will happen on every server i try, and if i keep on pressing connect it finally connects me to the server, also i will occasionally get lag spikes that take my ping passed 300 but then back down after a while and this happens every 20 mins or so... also i could then quit BF2 and play ANY other game online and have no problem with the internet its only BF2 for some strange reason, if any knows how i can fix this i will be very very gratefull

Maybe you all need to update Punkbuster manually. There was a recent update if I'm not mistaken.

For some reason this just starting happening to me today again. It litterally happens about once every 15 minutes, and I didn't change anything with my computer.
