Being a good squad leader = low points??!!

Just wanted to see what you guys thought ...

I love playing squad leader. Usually support. I tend to ride with squad up to flag, hang back , ona raised area but concealed, provide covering fire, call out enemy positions, and provide ammo.

My squad spawn on me, take the flag and we move on.

This works great but I usually end up with a very low score.

My support fire is not accurate (you knoe the support weapon..hopeless unless at short range, prone), but does the trick in pinning enemy down.

When I provide ammo, by running into captured flag after the main action has finished to replenish my squad, it seems I only get a ammo point if I drop the bag, not if I am running arounf holding it 'bumping' into people.

I'll continue to do play squad leader, as the randoms who play my squaddies always comment on what a great squad it is and how much they enjoyed the game afterwords, but I'd like to get a few more points for unlocks etc.

    Any suggestions?

    Noob out.

It depends upon your squad. If you have medics that can revive you, you can be a bit more aggressive, otherwise yes you have to be more reserved.

I cant tell you how much i hate squad leaders who run into buildings first while the flag has already been turned to the enemy, let ME at least catch the first bullets/grenade.

        Agreed.

For a game that promotes so much teamwork, a squad leader should be able to gain points for other things...

Only problem is that it will be abused alot. This is why the commander doesnt gain points for kills. If he does gain the points and his team wins, he could end up with 200 points while every else has 50.

        Same for squad leader.

I usually get a ton of points as a squad leader but I play medic and medic gets a ton of points I guess.

Squad Leaders can have very low scores, if you focus solely on teamwork, I find it somewhat productive to just stay in a blackhawk and let the squad spawn off me.

            The Benifit:

You can move more rapidly around the map: meaning you can drop your squad off more quickly.

You get transport time :) for all you badge guys *me included* Occasionally if the flag is largely populated you can circle it and you'll get a fair ammount of driver assist kills. Last game on Mashtur I got 75, not a bad score in my opinion considering all I did was fly around and drop people off on roofs and stuff.

Target the commanders goodies, 5 easy points there. If your squad times it right even more. You get the same points as spec ops does 1 point to resupply and 1 point for each commanders asset. This should help out some.

Drive more, you get points for that and any kills your squad makes.

              PKM, kill them bunnies.

If you have buddies that you play with regularly trade responsiblities.

That's just the way it is. I think squad leaders should get a bonus for squad-performance, but you are totally right: a good squad-leader gets less points.

You're a good squadleader, keep that in mind.

i love using the support weapon especially the SAW since its so accurate in close and even long distance. A tip for using it is forget about burst fire its only giving the enemy precious seconds to get away unharmed. what i do is go prone go into iron sights, aim at the center of their mass and hold the trigger. there will be enough lead in the air that you will kill them easily. Even for med/long distances you can get kills with it. just go prone but dont aim for their chest, aim at their legs/feet. keep holding the trigger and keep the sights focused on their legs or lower chest beacuse the recoil will case your aiming to "walk" upwards. trust me do this and you will be getting kills with it easy

If you look at my profile, you'll notice that I've been a squad leader as often as you. I also get way more points than you do. Why? Because I charge flags and take them with the rest of my squad. I'm there with the rest of them killing defenders and scoring points. I don't sit back. That's silly.

Maybe you sit back because you want to be a spawn point. If you check, I also die less often than you do so I'm more useful as a spawn point since I'm around more often. You can be a good squad leader and finish on top. You just need to change your style. As a squad leader, you're not doing nearly as much for your squad as you should.

this is a situation where you play for the game and not the points. some times points isnt the only reward to playing, im sure you have more fun when playing in a successful squad anyways

Being a good squad leader does mean less points. Actually, being a good ANYTHING in this game means less points in a lot of situations. (and being a good camper, tanker, pilot, etc. doesn't count, as most people get those for points, thus removing the teamwork component I'm trying to concentrate on here :p ) I say if you enjoy what you're doing, continue doing it. I'd love to have a squad leader that at least had an IQ over 25, much less one like you that actually recognized they have a squad and watched out for them and themselves at the same time. You are truely in the minority of squad leaders, lead by example I say. :)
