:) I got Battlefield 2 about a month ago. I want to make a map but dont know how. Can any one tell me how? Pleasse.

download the editor and dont use the weird font and huge letter sizes again because it looks retarded and not a lot of people will take you seriously

I am about 2 days in. I have the basic idea of what it will be. There is a city in a river valley. The americans and the chinese are in a race to take control it. There will be many vehicles for each team, and 3 spawn points in the city. One on each side of the river and then one on an island in the river right in the center of the map. The island will be a town square.


If anybody has any more ideas please post them!

theres about 3 basic videos on the same link above gotfrag.com, go to tut section, and look for the video files, i found these video help a bit,

also copy the read me info you read from forum threads, eg stuff like lights, water, buildings etc into a folder so you re read the info when your in the editor, well thats what i do, (one folder with all the info you need) and re read it again again to it becomes like riding a bike.coz there is so much info out there.

while loading the map the game cuts of. I have a spawn for each team same with object spawner. Whats wrong

One thing to note, is that at this point in time, the editor can only create multiplayer maps, and not single player maps (there is no section for creating the required BOT navmesh).

if you are trying to test your level by choosing SINGLE PLAYER, and then choosing your map, it will crash to the desktop at about the 70-90% mark.

if you are going into multiplayer, and choosing create server, and starting your map that way, and it is still crashing to the desktop, then you will need to do the following to find out why it is crashing :

On your desktop there will be a BattleField 2 icon, either edit this one directly, or create a copy of it on your desktop.

right-click on the icon, and choose properties from the bottom of the menu, in the properties window there is a Target entry field with something like:
C:\Program Files\EA Games\Battlefield 2\BF2.exe +menu 1 +fullscreen 1

change the 1 at the end to a 0 so it looks like this

C:\Program Files\EA Games\Battlefield 2\BF2.exe +menu 1 +fullscreen 0

now, when you run Battlefield 2, it will start windowed instead of fullscrean, then start a LOCAL multiplayer server, choosing your map, when it crashes, instead of simply dumping you back to your desktop, it will first give you a small error dialogue telling you what caused the game to crash.

it will usually be such things as : Lightmaps not generated or incorrect, color/detailmaps saved in the wrong format (happens on rare occasions) or some such.

if the reason it crashed is not immediately obvious to you after reading the error, post all the infromation contained within that error message here within this thread, as see if someone else or myself can help you out!

Also if you have placed no overgrowth on the map delete the overgrowth files / folder in your map directory.

In your graphics settings Terrain needs to be set to at least Medium


These are the most common crashes when doing a basic map.
