Giant Grid O' Death, annotated maps, joystick help

    One stop shopping:

    http://www.planetbattlefield.com/intel/bf2/

    My content's at the top:
    1. a set of annotated maps, which I like mostly for finding where exactly the UAV is located.
    2. a Giant Grid O' Death, which shows what every weapon does to every soldier and vehicle.
    3. a joystick setup help page (as setting this up was for some reason a real pain for me).
Enjoy, and let me know of any bugs, features you'd like, etc.

Yeah, I have these, but it'll cost ya. Maybe I'll put these up, but they're a bit large (they have to be blown up to see the spawns). Like you point out, they're mostly useful for making campers happy, so I doubt I'll bother.

I like the annotated maps, but they're a little small / hard to see.

for the weapon damage, 1 for headshot means it takes away all health right? ****, u kidding me, if i was assault and pla, it would take a headshot and a chest shot for a fast kill?

Right, it's a balancing act: if the icons get too big, they all hide each other in the bases that have lots of stuff in them; too small and they're hard to read. I decided to try to get the icons to be as close to their proper locations as possible, so err on the side of a little small. Which is why I recommend on the maps page using the Virtual Magnifying glass:

Virtual Magnifying Glass, a free, open source, screen magnification program for Windows, Linux, FreeBSD and Mac OS X. Free full version download and instructions for use.

Free and makes those icons larger when you want them more visible. If you prefer more readable but don't care about where the actual vehicle is, buy the Prima Guide, which has all the equipment listed on each map by base, but not its exact location.

Like I say, at this point I mostly use my maps for where the heck the UAV, radar, and arty installations are located. These type of maps were more useful in BF1942, as there were med and ammo boxes, etc.

Nah, it's better than that: one good clean straight-on shot in the head from an AK-47 or AK-101 and you're toast. The rating is 0.9, which means less than one hit to kill. The trick is getting that one good head shot. Strangely, people don't stand still when you're aiming a gun at them, bullets deviate, and there's lag involved. A more common way to kill someone with a gun like this is 5 shots to the armored body (3 if unarmored).

At least, that's what the damage equations seem to say. I really do need to get on a server with one other person and try some shots to the head and see if this really is the case. Like I say on the page, this table's derived from the various BF2 .tweak files, but there are still some mysteries and I may have screwed up somewhere. If anyone else has done this testing and found different (i.e. your friend stands still and lets him shoot you in the head with a single shot and it doesn't kill him), let me know. Saying "but I was playing a game and I swear I hit him in the head 4 times and he didn't die" doesn't mean diddly.
