Re: THe new Artillery Lemmings - Air Support Lemmings

Not delusional, however common sense to remain in the cover of the building or take cover. On a relatively small map with jet aircraft, calling out armoured vehicles often results in an air strike. Aircraft are part of the game, get over it.
I refer you back to the comments about some pilots expecting the rest of their team to hide away whilst they bomb with impunity.

Yes aircraft are part of the game. It is not the aircraft that TK's it is a bad pilot.

I have read this thread for quite awhile and have come to a conclusion. Pilots should need to ask permission from the commander to bomb something..... Just like in real life. IF they bomb without permission they get severally punished. This will cut down on crap pilots and really make good pilots great ones. I know this may sound extreme but this is actually a RL issue. It happened to my fellow canadian soldiers http://archives.cnn.com/2002/WORLD/a...nistan.canada/

So there should be more in game precautions taken. That is if everyone likes a bit of realism. if not we can all go back to playing arcade games. :)

Good luck with this idea. Enjoy playing by yourself on this type server. Your commander would be stuck babysitting aircraft the whole map.

Leave the stuff alone and just keep the pilots responsible like they should be. I am by no means an ace pilot - but I don't have a problem with not bombing friendlies on a regular basis. The mini map does work - and you can adjust the zoom on your joystick if you fly with one. It is not an impossible system to use - ffs - just give yourself a split second to look at the situation rather than letting the greed of a single kill cloud your mind.

Under your logic - all tanks would have to get permission for shooting each target as well....along with not using 50 cal's on troops - which is supposedly inhumane unless there is no other recourse in the heat of battle.

This is not a sim - lets keep it that way. It is close enough for most - close enough to arcade for those that want it that way, and close enough to a sim for some that want it that way.

No i never said anything about tanks. There is a reasonable way to make this work. Just like ackknowleding supplies. If you don't like challenges then hey that is fine but i think it would definetely change the game dynamic for the better. Planes fly around all willy nilly most of time fighting each other (because thats seems to be the only thing that works). Now this is kinda in place already with the old commander attack here button but pilots for some reason join squads with ohter players in it or don't join one at all. Pilots need voice comms IMO to be successful. Now with objectives already clearly laid out for Infantry and Armour they should require further premission..... I always like posting my opinion just to see how extreme some people take it.

how are we supposed to type all this stuff down when wer flyin a jet?? you know how quick they fly and if u slow down BOOM ure taken down by AA or SAM's. And if you call for support on a map wer air power is the dominant force then its ther fault for running out at the tank, its common sense if you call for support for taking out armour on kubra dam thers gunna be some bombs fallin down by you.

By then its too late, the bombs are away and theres nothing I can do about it.....BOOM, kill the armour, sometimes getting 5 or 6 at the same time as they were using as many armour vehicles as they could to cap flags, then came the TKs and the punishes.

It wouldnt annoy me as much, but they called for support, they could see me bomb running on other targets and yet instead of holding back a few more seconds they all try to C4 kill!!! Even though I was apologising in the team chat, it happened again and again. Call for support and then they would run in on the targets. I thought they might be doing it on purpose to bring my score down. Im not the best pilot by far and this is one of the times I was actually making a difference before these lemmings started their little game!

Voice Comms. CommRose..... Any of things already in place for quick comms in the game. I guess you aren't one of those pilots that pay attention to their surroundings???? or actually know how to play the game. Oh well there is a place for every type of gamer in this game. I mean someone has to be on the receiving end of bullets.....

Too bad you cannot bind keys to stuff on the commo rose for when you are flying with a joystick.

That's what it's for...bind a key on your joystick to the map key or something it only takes a second to open it and see if the area is clear of friendlies.
I can tell this is coming from someone who's never flown a jet in game. Opening the map while flying renders your controls useless. Just as with the mouselook key. If you do it at an angle of any sort, you will continue at that angle until you let go of the map. "Hello mountain!" True you could do it "quick" but I think that's insanely impractical and will most certainly get you killed if your flying against a half decent pilot that can read his minimap. Binding a key to change the minimap range (N) makes much more sense.

so do it while you're not at an angle.
it all comes back to the same basic concept. its your responsibility to not blow up your team mates. nobody elses.
if you cant avoid killing your own team, get out of the jet. if you dont care, dont be surprised when you get punished.

                          simple aint it?

I fly a lot, and I am still trying to learn how to aim the bombs, but one thing I am pretty good at is watching out for friendlies on the ground. I watch the minimap and check every flag before I bomb. Occaisionally I will fail to see a blue blip and I will get a TK for it, but I do my best to avoid it.

It is far more common for me to get a TK from an errant missile. Those things have a 1 in 10 chance of actually hitting an enemy target, but when they find a friendly to go after, they hit every time. I hate getting punished for those, and I expect all the pilot haters here will tell me that's what I get for firing a missile when there was a friendly aircraft in the air halfway across the map...

I'm saying it's not a good idea at all to do in a combat situation. Doing it when there's no danger, or in the middle of nowhere is another story.

You don't have to patronize me, sir. I can read the minimap well enough to not have to deal with bringing up the map at all. I also never conceded responsabilty to anyone else.
You didn't bother to quote the whole thing. I also offered a more practical way of checking your map with the minimap zoom. But as I've said in a previous post, accidents happen in every vehicle/kit. Punishing is your business.

Don't make it out like I go out of my damn way to T/K.
There are team playing pilots out there guys, I swear!

Didnt realise this thread would go so well, some good points of view.

I think the best comment has to be that there should be a call available for air support, rather than just the standard 'spotted'.

Can't say that I would agree to having to await permission for a bomb run though. Still, if there was an 'air commander' who could designate requests for air support to the pilots, in the same way that the commander designates attack/defend etc for the rest of the troops, that might add an interesting angle on the game.
