...I'll ask here. I've been trying to do that pweb thing to get rid of the corrupted memory/file error. Unfortunatly, despite launching the program in BF2's directory and all that stuff, the program always ends with an error about something being timed out. What's going on?

Everyone has the problem with the PB memory, but no one (that I heard of) had a problem FIXING it when they did what the PB website told them to.
EDIT: Oh wait, checked again, is this what you were talking about?
"Apparently after testing on a few servers, I noticed that only a few servers seemed to have worked. What you will notice if you are affected is that everyone on the list will appear as dead, that's a sign that you will most likely get kicked within 30 seconds.
The cause is still unknown, but is being investigated by EA as we speak. We will post an update as soon as more details are available. In the mean time, try some non-pb servers."Comment

Pbweb sucks go here dnload the BETA updater from EVENBALANCE it will update all the PB enabled games on your hard drive at 1 time. Its faster and I have never had it time out. I use it it update BF2, Americas Army, Wolfenstien ET & BF1942 all at 1 time.
