Look it's not a question of getting our asses kicked but that we are in an un-winnable situation. Nobody likes to admit to it but we made a bad situation worse and we keep saying that the Iraqis have to pony up and it just aint gonna happen. It's obvious going forward that "regime change" never works (look at Vietnam). Lastly politics is why we're in this mess to begin with not because our country was at risk.

None of the Allies had an extensive history at arnhem during WW2 Cause the Nazis won that one. And if we didn't step in that conflict, I GD guarantee you, your ignorant @$$ would be speaking German.

when you say 'step-in', do you mean when you stepped in militarily, or when you stepped in to appropriate the erstwhile British Empire - and to fund the war on both sides?

Militarily, you waited until the tide of the German war-machine had been turned, and you should try and find a copy of an old book titled 'The Black Bull' - to see just how much use the US army was on the field. We were fighting for our freedom - you were fighting for lugers and Iron crosses.

Specifically, Montgomery's plans for Arnhem were scuppered by two U.S. generals - I'm sure you know which two.

Uh...

I recall setting my troop TOC in Fallujah April 2003. So check your years it might be a typo or simple missinformation.

It would also be really hard to explain to my soldiers families who died in Fallujah... in April, July, and Aug of 2003 if we were not there until 2004. Not to mention my BSV dated June 2003 for actions in Fallujah.

12-RST- I respect your opinion but I have to disagree with you on this. WWII was an obvious threat to our national security while Saddam Hussein is and was NOT. Now as for the arguement that we removed an evil dictator, our world is full of them not the least of which is China with whom we do business with. So are we to believe that removing an "evil dictator" was worth "currently" 2000 American and 25000+ Iraqi lives and untold billions of dollars. If you buy into that rationale than you are a fool. I have the utmost respect for our soldiers and our military but just because they are involved in a conflict does'nt mean that conflict is one we should be involved in. It is the responsibility of our government and the American people to decide when to use that force. Basically separate the war from the warrior is what I'm saying. And if you believe that if we dont fight the Iraqi insurgents (Iraqi civilian population) over there than we'll have to fight them over here, then you are a serious fool. Trigger.

Those would be Army, can tell by the shoulder insigs and the uhhh Bradley, USMC don't have Bradleys in the real world. And whoever made the last post, 250,000 per insurgent, LMAO, do you know that each soldier/marine carries 210 rounds into a battle? do you know how long and how many guns it would take to fire 250,000 rounds in a day? And Believe me, the insurgents expend way more rounds, 1. because they dont maintain thier weapons because they are untrained mule's asses, and 2. they fire thier weapons like thier popping caps with 2pac in Juice.

Monty's plans for Arnhem if you wanna call em that, are what killed almost 8,000 of the Polish 1st airborne Brigade before they even hit the ground and had the British 1st div. surrounded ready to be obliterated until the 101st crossed the lower rhine river seperating the rest of the allied forces from Arnhem to sneak them out by boat. I'm sure you DON'T KNOW the complete story and you're confused. I suggest you read the road to Arnhem and elaborate once you have done so.
