Ok, so it generally considered poor form to call Artillery Strikes on the opponent's airplane hangers? Is this spamming?
The reason I ask is I was commanding on Killer Old Farts clan server last night and one of their clan members sent a Team message saying, "Commander, hey thanks for doing something useful. How about using the Arty for something strategic and helping us out down here, Jeez."
Well I was kind of shocked. Now, don't get me wrong. The KoF guys are great to play with. They work well as a team and actually listen to the commander. I enjoyed playing with them. But I wondered if I had wandered over the line of protocol by killing their clan members on the other team who were waiting for the jets to spawn.
For those KoF guys reading this, let me explain what I was trying to do. We had just lost a rear base and I'm a BIG proponent of keeping the rear bases. It helps mobilize the big attack if you have clear sailing into the enemy zone. Anyways, we had a zerg going on at this rear base. The enemy had launched a balanced attack with an armored column, infantry and attack helicopter. They weren't going to be rolled very easily. So I was overly concerned and spending most of my time doing scans with the UAV and dropping supplies where the troops could use them. Then the enemy began pummelling our boys with Arty and I realized that I had let up on him. I did a quick scan and there weren't any interesting targets that didn't already have a bunch of my boys down on the ground and engaged. So rather than let the enemy continue to pummel us without retribution, my scan pointed out that there were some spawn campers waiting on the jets in the enemy base. Well, shoot, I didn't want those guys getting into the air. We already had our hands full. So every chance I got, if I didn't have a strategic target, I made sure we kept those jets on the ground. That meant pummeling the #@$# out of those hangers.
Anyways, the results were good. We won 3 in a row while I was commander. So I guess it was working. :)
