    uhh.... 1024x768 will look better than 800x600, but 60Hz wll burn the eyes out of their sockets. I always makes sure I run a resolution that is nice looking, but most importantly, good for my eyes.

      if you have an lcd, then 60hz doens't bug your eyes (trust me, i can spot 60hz half way accross the work place). so, if it is an lcd, do 1024x768@60hz

          60Hz is standard for a TFT my 19" 1280x1024 TFT won't go higher than 60Hz its a totally different tech too a CRT.

            mines 1024 x 768 @ 75 htz anyways, so it doesnt bother me much, i used to have it on 1280 x 1024 but my comp isnt good enough to run at that resolution smoothly:p

              1024x768 60Hz is better, but it has a slower updaterate...

                  60Hz makes my eyes bleed, I get a headache after 2 mins of that, as soon as I change it to 75Hz I am fine again.
                  I play at 1280×1024@75Hz and gameplay is bliss.

                    Re: Which is a better resolution???

                    60Hz on an LCD will NOT bother you. It's a complete different technology than CRT. I'm not going to go into details about this, however.
                    Of course 60Hz on a CRT will make a person vomit at ANY resolution...
                    I play BF2 1280x1024@60Hz on my Hyunday L90D+ 19" LCD. It feels perfectly fine on my eyes.
                    You guys need to stop comparing LCD with CRT monitors...

                    whoever voted for 60hz is a noob and sucks
                    I am 'not' sure about that one...

                      Re: Which is a better resolution???

                      CRTs require minimum of 60hz to prevent "bleed" that is, reduction in brightness of the image, because the phopshor needs to be re-energized
                      so, the faster you can "refresh" the image, the less variance you will have in screen brightness
                      LCD DO NOT have pixel brightness reduction at ANY refesh rate

                      HOWEVER, in all cases, you need as fast as you can, because, it also has a direect impact on UPDATING the data that goes to your screen
                      ergo:
                      what is value of 120 FPS if you only update your screen 60hz?

                          Do you have quality on low?
                          I have a 9600 and running everyting in medium, but resolutin on 800x600...
                          if i turn on to higher resolution, it starts to delay...

                            my settings:

                            VideoSettings.setTerrainQuality 3
                            VideoSettings.setGeometryQuality 2
                            VideoSettings.setLightingQuality 3
                            VideoSettings.setDynamicLightingQuality 2
                            VideoSettings.setDynamicShadowsQuality 2
                            VideoSettings.setEffectsQuality 3
                            VideoSettings.setTextureQuality 3
                            VideoSettings.setTextureFilteringQuality 1
                            VideoSettings.setResolution 1024x768@72Hz
                            VideoSettings.setAntialiasing 2Samples
                            VideoSettings.setViewDistanceScale 1
                            VideoSettings.setVideoOptionScheme 3

                            That was taken from the C:\Documents and Settings\YOUR USERNAME\My Documents\Battlefield 2\Profiles\0001

                            Then under Video... i could be bothered to start up the game.. lol.

                            1 = low
                            2 = med
                            3 = high

                            But scale distance 1 = 100% view distance.
