F18 missles

well - this may seem strange
I do not realy enjoy flying the jets
too unrealistic
(yes - I have TONS of hours in real fighters)
I have read all the tricks here
and have NO PROBLEM getting behind anyone
even with AG selected
then even when enemy is in level flight
and I have tried MANY ways/combos to switch to AA

1. quick switch then shoot (yes with lock)
2. switch then wait few seconds then shoot
3. and at varying ranges

99% of the time, the 1st missle goes haywire - right from launch

the 2nd missle will track and blow and do little damage

this was all on the oilfield map (64 man)

now, if my misssles cannot hit a level target
how did the J10 own me!?!@?!?
yes, he was good
I was NEVER level, except when chasing the 2 seater or often chasing the J10
buy whenever J10 was hehind me
I was maneuvering HARD, at full speed
and chaffing and jinking, yet his missles mailed me! - ALWAYS in a HARD Turn

I hear your pain..I fly all the time too and experienced this goin against the J10..the only way I was able to score a hit (and he was a mid level pilot) was when he was going dead straight and slow..other wise its like they have a force field around them. In general the missles act very odd..but againt the J10 its virtually IMPOSSIBLE to own them unless they dont manouver much. I can usually get them with guns but they can happily fly over the runway/carrier and repair WHILST Im shooting and not bother them..its a joke.

The missles effectiveness needs to be fixed, and the J10 dialed back to what it was before the patch..

btw what real fighters have you flown!!

it may be a little known fact that the J10 is the most maneuverable fighter jet in Battlefield 2. whenever i'm flying against one who is close on my tail, i usually hit the brakes and gain a bit of altitude and then take a tight turn back towards the ground. most of the times that i've done this, the J10 blows right past me. after that, i throttle back up and chase him.

note: when i'm chasing an enemy jet, i almost never use missles. i normally fly with my bomb HUD so that enemy jets don't know i'm on their tail. (if i need to find enemy bogies, i quick switch to the missle HUD until they are found. once found, i immediately switch back to bomb HUD) as soon as they have leveled out, i let loose with the machine gun. i've found that this is the quickest and most reliable way of shooting down any bogey.

I agree that the A2A missles need to have thier tracking improved. Too many times I have an excellent angle of attack on an nme, fire , and watch my missles seem to bounce off his rear end. I'd give anything to have the un guided missles from DC back. At least I'd know where they would go when I released them.

Try firing missiles out in front of the target's path, especially for fast-moving jets.

ya i know, i got a lock on a jet(a j-10 i think) and fired all of my missles at him, oh and yes, he already fired off his flares. All of them missed!! he wasn't even turning all that much, just barely, like he was using his rudder to turn himself. Like 20 seconds later the famous words popped up, "you tked friendly." What is up with that? Its like my missle did a sharp 90 degree angle turn and tracked on the other friendly jet. Of course he punished and we were both like wtf man! Oh well....
