    Spawnblocking = Bug using ?

    Hi,

The issue: Currently blocking of bases is a common behaviour in clanwars.

Example: At Gulf of Oman you got 3 spawn points at the bases.
You and your team take position on the enemy "fixed" spawn points (3 spawn
points = you need only 3 of your own ppl to block them) with the result that
enemy team cant spawn anymore. The enemy team has then a red point on their
    map/minimap: they cant spawn anymore.

Question: is this legal or bug using?

What is the point with the red point then?

    Thank you

No different than watching a clan get pinned back to their mainbase when there is an uncappable flag involved. Taking all the flags so the other team can't spawn on maps where one or both team has no non-cap flags has been around since BF42, old.

Is that really what he was talking about? To me it sounded like he was saying that if you have someone stand on the spawnpoint, it won't let people spawn there (you can select the point, but it turns red and you don't spawn). I'd always wondered why spawnpoints sometimes turn red, so I guess this is the reason.

That sounds incredibly cheap/lame/exploitative, whatever you want to call it. I would think in a tournament any clan doing this would be disqualified.

......well its cheap, it should be changed a tad bit so the person will spawn but if someone was there, it would automatically kill them.......(not in vehicle, i mean if that person was just standing there)

I have that happen with teammates sometimes, but I've never had the enemies do that to my knowledge. That does sound pretty cheap, though. Dragon had a good idea with the instant-death thing. Like being telefragged in UT.

Yeah I was wondering what the red dot was for!? Can anyone provide a definitive answer? ALso. how do you know exactly where the spawn point is to stand on it?

Or they could have like 10 new spawn points to each base and just solve the problem. Would solve the problem of spawn campers knowing where to look for people spawning also.

Or they could just spawn but next to the person instead of fragging them.

Or just have an algorithm that if a spawn is blocked, the game tries to relocate a small distance away, that way incase all are blocked. It can't be hard to do since most things in BF2 work on a radii anyway.

the way you tell where people spawn is just observe. stand back, watch where your teammates spawn. its a good tactic if you get to a base that has a lot of vehicles there, you just park a vehicle on each point. its lame if the other team doesnt have any flags, but a good tactic like on sharqi at the south point if you want to make sure that they dont get their chopper up. kinda sneaky but hey, arent all fps about finding ways to hurt the other team? would you rather get pushed back to one point and have the other team know of your spawn locations and have them keep knifing u as u spawn? or worse, shock paddling you?

It seems that no matter how the game is well-done... people will always find exploits and workarounds and cheats. The problem is not in the game; it is the people's mentality.

Ah, I get what your saying now, I didn't realize that was the point he was trying to get across.

I don't think it is too lame, it it probably merciful if anything, at least in a clan match. They can either do that, or they can have half their team lie down and aim right at the spawnpoints and mow them down as they try to spawn. I'd rather block the spawn than **** on their wounds some more with a steady diet of baserape. If you got pushed back that far in a clan match, chances are, you are screwed one your down to one base.

On a pub, it can be a bit cheesy, but at least you won't have people bitching about spawncamping in the killing sense.

Damned if you do, damned if you don't.
