1.5 gigs of ram or 2gigs.

I know this probably belongs in the tech section, but I figure I'll get more answers in the general forum, plus I like to stick it to the man.

Here's my dilemma:

Right now I have two sticks of 512 megs of ram and my motherboard allows up to 3 sticks. I want to upgrade to two gigs of ram, but it will cost me about $300 to buy two sticks of 1 gig ram that are compatible with my motherboard. It would only cost me $65 to buy another stick of 512 and then I could wait a couple years to get 2gigs when I get a new computer.

Will BF2 run the same with 1.5 gigs of ram as it would with 2 gigs, or should I take to plunge to 2 gigs?

Here also 1.5 gig, runs great, only a minor lag in the first sec of round start.

Had 1gig at first and there is a big improvement when moving to 1.5 gig.

2 gig may be a litle better, but it would be a so small improvement that it isn't worth the money, better keep that money for when you are going to upgrade your system totaly next year or later

only think bout 2 gigs is that it runs in dual channel on my mobo. but ya it still has that 1-2 seconds of choppyness once u load a map. anything over 1 gig is fine.

I moved from 512MB to 1.5GB and the improvment was great.

How much of a difference will you achieve with 1.5gb as opposed to 1gig of duel channel? Does the duel channel not make much difference?
