As a player who likes playing commander I wish you guys (you know who you are) would stop trying to vote out the commander as soon as you lose a couple flags. (which BTW is probably NOT the commanders fault) Oh sure it never succeeds but personally I find it annoying. As I'm sure you know the commander position goes to the best player that actually wants the postion. As long as the guy is actually attempting to command (as opposed to flying or running around at the front) just let him command. If you don't like it then take the postition yourself the next round. And if you think he is just a noob who does not know how to command how about you give him some tips. You were all noobs once you know. It's just game.

Re: Stop Blaming the Commander
I so friggin agree with this... when you ask people to do things, they don't, when you drop an UAV on a group of targets or spot an enemy for them and they run off in the opposite direction. You drop arty on a group and watch your teammates drive into the 'red' zone.
Then when your losing they start bitching and whining like little school girls who just had their hair pulled.
Just yesterday I had to get involved into the action myself to help cap flags so they would at least have a place to spawn as the little lemmings grouped tighter than a bunch of sardines - The enemy commander must of been drooling when he saw the tight grouping of red dots on his scanner.Comment

I agree with the no penality for being carless part..last time i was playing , this commander just kept on arty. fire all the time on his teammates just for fun , we coundent vote kick him out because not enouth players knew how to vote , or votes no...as say they should make it a -1 for every teammate killOriginally posted by shadow_wolfI usually dont see vote kicks unless the commander bombards his own team with arty to kill a few enemies. Even worse now that theres no penalty for being careless.Comment

No, the commander goes to the person with the highest rank.Originally posted by DavidG64As I'm sure you know the commander position goes to the best player that actually wants the postion.
A higher rank does NOT necessarily mean he's a more skilled player than the others.
I agree with the rest of your post though, but don't take these Mutiny votes personally. More often than not it's just a noob who wants the position, and tries to vote you off.Comment

Re: Stop Blaming the Commander
It really is a two-way deal with the troops and the squads. If one or the other is performing badly, and the other team has got their crap together, you're toast. Last night, on a server, we had a pretty good commander and our squad was pretty good too. We bounced around capping flags, nailing bad guys, and the commander backed us up. However, we lost the first round because the other squads just ran around doing sweet fanny adams. There's only so much a good commander and one good squad can do...
Having said that, I've seen occasions when the squads were pretty good and the commander didn't get him(or her)self involved at all, but because squads were organised, we managed to claw ourselves a win, despite the fact the enemy commander seemed pretty competent. Perhaps his squads were lacking :)Comment

but I do; if I have been in the game for 10-15-20 minutes and
I get no UAVS or my supply requests go ignored.
9 out of 10 commanders I get are totally useless to their team..
UAV themselves only... supply themselves only.. and its so easy to
tell... watch the star on your minimap and if thats where the radar is
going all game, I start a mutiny.. and even more so if Im top scorer
workin my butt off..
I wish the commander mode was a server option... it just leaves
too much open for one idiot, one stat padder, or whatever, to just
go for his 2x bonus while doing nothing all game while the other 20
players on his team lose....and with the useless voting system in BF2
it makes it even more of a joke.Comment

Re: Stop Blaming the Commander
Well yea. I guess to be more specific it must go to the player with the highest global score in cases were your rank is the same. By 'best' I was thinking like a computer program since it is probably the easiest way it can determine who the better commander is likely to be.Originally posted by BerrernNo, the commander goes to the person with the highest rank.
A higher rank does NOT necessarily mean he's a more skilled player than the others.
Hmmm I wonder if it might be better if it were to use the commander points to decide who gets the job??Comment

Re: Stop Blaming the Commander
When I am commander I RARELY TK anyone. I am very careful with my arty and I warn people constantly. However, people start kick votes against me all the time. It is not because I am bad, but because they let the main base get captured, regardless of how many times I asked them to go defend it, and then, because I don't give UAV when they request it (because it has been destroyed) they try to kick me.I usually dont see vote kicks unless the commander bombards his own team with arty to kill a few enemies. Even worse now that theres no penalty for being careless.
Second, there IS a penalty for being careless. If you drop an arty on your teammates you lose points. The penalty is still there. Personally, I see no difference between before the patch and after the patch in regards to use of arty. The only difference is that I don't get kicked when some idiot drives a jeep full of passengers right into the arty area. Those jeeps are the bane of the commander because you can drop the ary a million miles away from everyone on your team and the jeeps can STILL get there in time.Comment

Re: Stop Blaming the Commander
It's like in soccer I guess..
When the team is on a winning streak and cleaning house after house, they have good players!
When the team starts losing, they have a bad coach..
Some players seem to think the CO has an 'auto-win' function, and when they start losing they go like 'wtf doesn't he press the insta-win??' (or something.. never really understood them either)
If our team is losing because the team sux I'll allways vote no.. only if it is my personal belief that our CO is a 12 year old with the syndrome of Down do I vote yes..Comment

Re: Stop Blaming the Commander
I always give supplies to those who request and put UAV to the position where it is needed most. What i can't stand are people who do nothing for the team.
For example: I pointed out that there was a spec ops going to destroy our satelite. At the time I even put an UAV to point out his exact position. Still no one did anything to prevent him from destroying the commander toys even though our forces were nearby. They just didn't realize that letting even one soldier beyond our lines was too much. They just went the other way :cussing:
After a few minutes the problem was solved and the toys fixed. My team captured all the accessable control points and was holding them well. We were winning clearly but then everybody got comfortable with that and lost their grip. We lost all those control points and the round.
All that time I kept doing my commander tasks. I pointed out where the enemies were and listened to squad leaders. I didn't get a single team kill with artillery. Still they blamed me for our loss :wall:Comment
