    Support Class: Suppression

This is NOT a guide for experienced support players.

I find it best to try these ideas when using support.

    1) Single-minded : Don't pursue your enemy(s), wait for them to come to you. Play defense of flags and your squads flanks. I found it best when my squad is capping a flag to lay in an alley where there would be high traffic. Let your teamates shoot first and spot enemies for them. When the enemy is taking fire from your team open up on them, you'll most likey take them from supprise.

    2) Aim Low : I use the PKM mostly. I found it best to aim for the abdomin at longer ranges, due to large "cone of fire". This also works great agaisnt hoppers. Close up you have aim more accurately.

    3) Rate of Fire : Watch to make sure your gun isn't going to overheat. Tap the button to release bursts and give time to cool your weapon

    4) Suppresion : Keep constant fire on your enemy(s). I like the wall of fire technique, most people run or dive out of it. Keep that fire on them even if they are hidden. This gives time for your team to move in and/or flank.

    5) Ammo : DO NOT throw ammo on the ground for yourself, it gives away your location. Hold the bag. A trick I read that works. Throw some ammo where you are covering. Some people are desperate enough to pick it up, easy targets for you.

    6) Reloading : Reload when you have time or have to. Reloading support weapons takes forever, so pick your times wisely.

    7) Grenades : Unlimited!! Keep those grenades on the enemy.

    8) Moving : Its time to get familar with your pistol. It is weak, but more accurate than your Light Machinegun. Evade as much as you can, throw grenades to clear your way. When in a jam, crouch and use your Light Machinegun (stay still when firing).

That is all I have for now!! Godspeed Support players!!

the SAW or PKM can be accurate at good ranges if you keep shooting 1-2 rounds at a time

Support is the best defensive kit in my eyes. If can get set up on a roof or hill overlooking the flag you can really give them hell. Just a tip, let the eneny all the way to the flag and let them get comfy if you are alone. Then hit them with nades and finish them with the gun. By the time they know you are there they will already be dead or severely wounded. (dont forget to spot them and call for help if you need it)

Ya, it really helps that you have unlimited ammo and grenades

Pardon the question, but I keep reading about ammo bags revealing my location. How does that work exactly? I never noticed anything like that...

it gives your location away because ammo bags, as well as medic packs, show up with either the 3 bullets symbol and a distance, or the red cross symbol and the distance. It just confirms where you are to your enemy because they can see exactly.

I find supression pretty much worthless in this game (or any game really). In real life, rounds bouncing all around someone will generally make them keep their heads down b/c they really don't want to die.

It doesn't matter much in gaming. If you die, so what, you'll be back in 15 seconds or so.

PKM is a killer, quite acurate in very small bursts when prone and super powerfull , and the pistol isn't that weak , it's so acurate you can easely aim for the head and take enemy's out in two to three shots.

Don't play to much as support, but the class isn't as bad as most think, you just need to learn how to work the class and you will find it great after a while

                    nice pointers :)

Just want to remind some people Support HAS ammo bags.. I've seen a couple supports yell out for ammo, so I guess some people still need to learn

You said aim low, and I just wanted to add that this is a good tactic since the recoil will naturally bring the fire up into more vital areas of the body. If you aim high and try to go for the head you will end up firing into the sky.

Regarding suppresion fire I find AA's CEM(combat effectiveness meter) to 'somewhat' show the effect of suppression fire. Well, it still is a computer game ... but simulates it rather well I'd say. If there were some equivalent in BF2 I think support could actually do a good job at supporting.

The thing with BF2 is that you keep respawning all the time so it is difficult to up the class of play, I recon, from that of an arcade game to that of a military simulator(or the likes of).

I agree with the PKM statement, it's an awesome weapon but misused by so many, mainly by people running with it and then screaming over the comm that they didn't kill the guy after 50 rounds of ammo.

The PKM rocks!! This is the kit I use all the time and I have done well with it. After you learn to go prone each time you want to shoot you become a killer. And you cant beat seeing a smoking chopper and finishing it off for 6 kills.

Great point on support last night some friends and I locked down the enemy spawn so tight they couldn't move. We where all on USMC we had all the choppers and plains. How did we accomplish this VOIP (TeamSpeak) and a good commander.

It was halarious they couldn't move we had AA's choppers blasting and everything. We took out their artillary and had people wait for the commander to drop the supply box to refil our team by the artillary so we could blow it up, we had their scanner's UAV, everything it was amazing. I was support and I was punishing everyone, the gun sucks in other games but in BF2 it is a beast.

I loved it supression is the way to go.
