How to base-rape with an Engineer (basic)

Here are some tips on how to base-rape with an Engineer (especially when its a non-capturable base).

• Place AT mines on the top of enemy vehicles OR where they spawn if you know the exact spot
• Always steal enemy vehicles to use against them
• Be ready to jump out of your vehicle into the next one if there are multiple available
• Placing AT mines on enemy assets and then blowing them with a grenade does like NO damage
• Best time to base-rape is when the enemy has most of the flags (not many people will spawn at their main base OR be using the assets there)
• Be a squad leader so people can spawn on you and help you out (always good to have someone to spawn on as a SpecOps to destroy enemy assets)
• Do this to cause havoc with the enemy team so they'll divert resources on you instead of taking the few or last base on your team

These are a couple of basic tips I thought you may enjoy trying to use the next time you find yourself base-raping the enemy's non-capturable flag.

base raping is poor sportsmanship at best, and at worst it's, well, I don't want to type those words here.

You know, I just don't get all these people crying about base "raping". This is a freaking war game, sabotage that helps your team win is perfectly acceptable in my eyes. I guess that makes me a serial rapist. I take squads to enemy airfields and carriers all the time. Jets on the ground are much easier to kill than jets in the air. I have done the AT mine thing (especially at Kubra) and the Spec-Ops mission is a given. Hell, just last night some buddies and I were haloing over the enemy carrier taking out jets with AT rockets during the descent. I think the majority of those who cry are jetwhore babies or players just to0 lazy to play defense.

-To be clear on one thing though, I do NOT spawn kill. Attacking an enemy base allows the players a chance to defend themselves and their equipment. I do NOT advocate sitting at a spawn point and wasting people the moment they respawn.

I dont agree with that at all..sitting at a non cappable base and laying mines, planting c4 on vehicles or whatever is practically spawn camping.you may not physically be sitting there gunning people down then they spawn, but its the same outcome..I could see setting up defense perimeters near that particular base so noone can advance to a new base, but sabotaging the gear at a non cappable flag is spawn camping..well to me it is..I could see sabotaging the objects on flags that can be taken over.I agree with that statement..It has nothing to do with being too lazy to play defense..just so you know, i dont fly planes at all.im a medic.:)

I still don't see how you can equate base "rape" to spawn camping. When you are truly spawn camping the people you kill have NO chance to fight back, and frankly that is not fair. However when me or my squadmates are attacking your equipment you have every chance to come and try to eradicate us. Just because your teammates are probly a bunch of Rambo's who won't help is no reason to call it poor sportsmanship to sabotage. When I was in the military my job was to DEFEND airbase personnel and assets, that's just the reality of war (or war games). Just because your base cannot be captured does not mean you have a safe haven. And by the way, I don't give sh#t about points, I care about trying to win. If I wind up with 50 points or -5 at the rounds end, it makes no difference to me.

I'm not a fan of Engineer, but harassment is a definitely a viable tactic in BF2. And no, base harrassment does not equate to spawn camping.

Generally I'm at an enemy base alone as SpecOps either looking for an asset to bomb to high hell or a vehicle to commandeer.

Still, sometimes going prone by the fence behind the archway where MEC spawn at southern flag on Karkand is too tempting. :p

I see absolutely nothing wrong with this. I don't see anything wrong with base raping either. I have done it a couple of times and have had it done to me a crapload. It's part of the game. The best thing about that is it does divert the enemies attention to you giving your team a real chance it taking over the flags. That's why on Mastuur I take the seacow and ram the BH. I do whatever it takes to give my team a chance to win. Plain and simple.

Spawn raping is wrong, but "base raping" IMO is sabotage and should be considered fair. I think it is a viable tactic to take back control of the game. If you are the victim of this, for example C4 attached to a vehicle, then after you respawn find the engineer and kill him. Also it will make players more aware of the game and check things out rather than jumping in a vehicle and running people over (happened to me a lot last night).

There's nothing wrong with what Harmor is suggesting here. He might have used a euphamism to prevent the gut reaction so many people get when they hear the word "rape." However, I think this is a perfectly viable tactic and it is a tactic that can be defended against even after all the AT mines have been placed and the enemy engineer has run to the hills.
