Dice and EA have something to learn from VU

Well, as you all may know, FEAR has come out, and it is a great game both multiplayer and single player. What I want to point out is how much VU and Monolith developers care about the community. It has been only 1 day since the game has been released and they already have a patch for it... in it they have optimizations, and bug fixes (THINGS WHICH BF2 FAIL TO ACCOMPLISH EVEN AFTER 3 PATCHES). Just to bring it to your attention.

so you're saying they knowingly released a game knowing it's buggy.

    Stop whining...get over it.

Ha, good point. I thought EA/DICE were the only ones that did that and all other gaming companies released 100% completey bug-free, perfected software.

It's an industry problem, and every development shop has to operate that way.

Time to market has officially trumped quality, mainly because we let it.

omfg.. what a w@nker you are..

Actually I couldnt agree more with the thread starter.. EA
has a LOT to learn.. I said at least 100 times before the 1.03
patch came out that other publishers, like EPIC, never release
such an unfinished product as EA did..

I mean, cmon.. 3 months for the first REAL patch for this game?
150 fixes ? And yet, there are still several obvious bugs in it that
need attention and that they knew of beforehand..

I have at least 75 games here on my shelf..bought all of em over
the past 4-5 years... never have I seen one so unfinished and
              unsupported..

EA/DICE is determined to do it their way.. slow and ineffective.
This is why the previous 2 releases BF1942 and BFV got old very
              quickly..

10 new maps come out for UT2004 every day..and theyre all FREE.
And theyved had at least 6-7 patches for bugs along the way..
the first was within a week of release and resolved MOST ALL the
problems.. the last few patches are followups fixing small quirks.

EA has a lot to learn, but theyre heads are too big to EVER do so..

EA and DICE did definatly screw it up, no need to disscus this anymore but!

There are Games that are even worse then BF2, remember FarCry? Crytek needed 8 Months to bring out a Patch that did fix some of the most critical Bugs and Errors.

Counter Strike Source has even a build in, very f****ing bug, it's called "Lag Compensation" and thats why you can hit someone around corners.

So stop wining about BF2 Patches and Bugs...........

so you played F.E.A.R for a day or to (if you actually did =/) and you already know it's bug free and 100% perfect

FEAR singeplayer rocks. FEAR multiplayer sucks hippo nuts, it's just another deathmatch small map in boring factories stupid unoriginal fragfest.

Honostly, BF2 is not as buggy as people make it. If people think BF2 is one of the buggiest games ever....this is like their....2nd game (not seriously of course).

Re: Dice and EA have something to learn from VU

what i'm saying is, if you ever go onto the official FEAR forums, the developers are very active in communicating with the community to find out what the problems are and they actually do something about the problems quickly. All i'm saying is we should not lower our standards and accept that the game is pretty buggy. The standard of producing and developing a game is there and shown in high quality work that other companies produce. Just wanted to inform others that they do not have to settle for less because if we let EA and DICE slip by with not fixing the game before they release SF, then the message is clear that the consumers are willing to settle for a shoddy game.

Re: Dice and EA have something to learn from VU

EA/DICE don't have to change a thing. People will continue to buy/play BF2 even when they know it's buggy. Look back at C&C Generals. It was buggy when released and support has been terrible. People complain about EA...yet they still buy EA labelled products.
