  • Trouble with corsair value select RAM

I recently upgraded my computer to 2gigs of ram using corsair value select ram. Since I installed it I've had some problems regarding games, specifically BF2. Here's list of some of the strange things that have happened.
    - Crash to desktop after clicking on a server to play on
    - Loss of use of keyboard ingame, leaving only the use of the mouse
    - keyboard mapping totally erased and having to redo it.

I've tried some things to fix these problems, such as putting my old 1gb of or ram back in, but the problems stayed. Then I even erased my hardrive and re-installed windows again and re-installed BF2, but the problems have remained.

Does anybody know what could have caused these problems and could I have done damage to my cpu, hard drive or motherboard?

    Thanks,
    G

    Hi

A good way to test your RAM is to use memtest.
It test you RAM for a given cycle number, with different DATA pattern.
Is your RAM is faulty, you'll soon see some errors to be reported.

But for the corsair quality, I've 1Go of value select, and they work good !

    Good luck

How many sticks of RAM is there in your PC?

and what is the your PCs specs??

Look in the sticky above: Help us, help YOU! on how to find and post your specs.

I suspect if you have RAM modules that are different in speeds and timings and this makes the PC unstable, but easier to tell if you post the specs of PC and further details on your RAM.

That seems to me to be a problem of ram timings incompatibility in ur pc's bios. Check that... r all of them of same speed? And is it correctly setup in the bios?

Re: Trouble with corsair value select RAM

So you bought two identical stick of RAM, right??

Have you tried settings the default settings in your BIOS, maybe your RAM is running at the old timings and if it they can't run at that speeds it becomes unstable.

If you know what timings your RAM can run at then set it to those or if your BIOS has the option to set it to timings to "set by SPD" or similar. This will set it to the timngs to safe values that they are meant or certified to run at.

You tried updating the BIOS? Not running at overclocked settings? Reinstalling motherboard drivers?
