I hear you brother, my 1st unlock was the jackhammer, but i gave up engr about 2 weeks after the game came out for just what you say, im sure if the if the spec ops people had there c4 go boom when somebody ran over it, and they got all those tk penalities, that, more people would agree with you. Its not right to lose the best flag defendering class in the game over this, but its not worth the problems, im stil banned from dozens of servers for the so called "excesive team killings". So now i just play other classes, but i must admit i miss that old shotty. btw, i posted a long time ago on this, why not put a tone on mines so friendlies can understand they are close. just like aircraft know when they are locked.

imo, all teams should have a few medics and a couple engineers..

I dont see many people playing with the E class.. but since getting
my unlock, I have really taken a liking to it.. I can use that shotgun
as well as I can my DAO.. and I like having those mines around, and
being able to repair things..


BUT

Even so... I dont play it that much... why? Well..because all your
friggin idiot teammates punish you when they run over that HUGE red
X.. and Im tired of getting punished 99.99999% of the time for it..
even on those so called 'dont punish for mine tk or you will be kicked.'

Just got punished 10 mins ago when a idiot picked up a rider and
ran straight into a mine guarding a entrance.. and it wasnt like he
hadnt the time to see it.. and of course...both players punish me..

The punishing is out of control.. 9 out of 10 times I will get punished
and only 1 of those times would I actually deserve it.. Hell I make
some bonehead mistakes from time to time, but I give 110% to do
whatever to get a win.. while it seems other morons (who end up
with 6 points..) just love to punish you to bring your score closer
to theirs..

I wish I could play Engineer class more.. but after a few days of
being punished time after time, Im thru with it..

I wish there was a better punish/tk system.. when you put
the decision in the hands of the guy whos laying there dead,
your odds arent good...even if you saved a control point, or
even the game for your team..

For my money it doesn't get any better than the pump shotgun. I played engineer almost exclusively in BF 1942, BFV, and despite my foray into spec ops land, BF2 as well.

I love the E class, but the shot gun SUCKS!, and it is really stupid to get punished because some DUMBASS runs over the clearly marked mines!

Plus, with the new patch then mines can be detonated, can't they? So now instead of blocking in a base so enemy vehicles cannot get in making the soldier has to get out on foot to cap the point, any soldier with a hand grenade can take out the entire minefield rendering it all but useless. Like the Engineer, of all classes, needed to be nerfed. :\

The thing that I find so ignorant by EA/DICE is the fact they have it so you can toggle the 3D map. If you don't have 3D map on (ALT key default), then NO warning symbols come up. (mine, claymore, C4) They should have made it ALWAYS show the warning symbols with no way to turn them off. That would help a little I think. I do believe that some people don't have them turned on. I just will not believe that people are THAT blind. Stupid ... YES ...Blind ...Nah!

One more thing that I find more hilarious than people being SO stupid is the 12 yr olds calling somebody a NOOB!

with the exception of link 3 you really stretched your point in a laughable example. He brings up a valid point that there hasnt been much rescent discussion over the engineer class that you cant seem to contradict very well. As well... hes every right to express his opinion, just as you every right to criticize it in forums intended to discuss the game and opinions about the game. however i think anyone that posts here can agree... theyd rather do without your sarcastic spam and those like yours, on the threads they start.

the engineer class is fun, but i find it a bit to situational. now a days i only play him with the intent to repair something. once the job is done... if i cant get into a tank to substitue the horrible range on the shotgun, im lookin for another kit on the ground to pick up.

punishing sucks, and all i could recomend, is try playing on a server that has punishing auto'd or disabled or whatever it is they do.... taking the option away from the player, and turning it off takes a bit of the stress and frustration away. it just becomes a fact of the game, and i can handle it better that way :)

My sentiments exactly. I used to play engy once in a while for fun but after the patch I dont even think about it anymore. Allowing mines to be detonated by grenades is just lame. C4 I can understand, bombs I can understand, but grenades that makes using mines totally useless. Way to screw up a fun class Dice.

Edit: Oh yeah and ignore a1pointguard, hes been on these boards since July and has over twice as many posts as I do since Feb. Obviously he is just some punk kid with no life who trolls these boards.

I just dont see why DICE can't make it so you cannot punish for running over friendly mines and getting negative points like they did with artillery.

Even that doesn't work right. I've gotten punished for arty tk's since the patch even though you're not supposed to be able to.
