Lol if you think you can play BF2 properly on that spec your having a laugh.

The teen rating is nothing to do with it. Sure they may have left out the blood too widen the audience but to play bf2 properly you need at least a 2.5ghz processor 1gb of ram and a 6600GT.

Its a enthusiasts game, made intentionally bulky to force players to have the highest end graphics cards possible which has almost certainly got somthing to do with the fact its sponsered by nvidia.

Its aimed at people with money not kiddies.

You never gave your opinion? How is that exactly? You said that bf2 is aimed at teenagers which is an opinion and a hopelessly flawed one.

The same can be said for your opinion that the game is targeted to the group you say it is.
Im really trying to ask if you created a video game and it sold so well what would u do. A or B in light of a coming expansion for your game.

question - not ea or dice , have you ever seen a company change a video game because it was too tough? only people who spent much time on it could gain certain things/ beat the game?

not patches , how many games actually change the requirements to reach levels in the game man. not patches. how many games "change the difficulty" - meaning since only players who spend a lot of time on the game can advance quickly ... so there is a drastic reduction in requirements to achieve levels or / beat the game. Actually going into the structure of the game and rewriting what is necessary to reach certain levels , attain certain things because some players do not have the time to spend ingame.

I agree with the arguement against this being targeted at teenage boys. As it is with all marketing, they want to hit as large a segement as possible. This is why there is no gore so it could get a teen rating so younger people would be able to get it. However, that does NOT mean it is targeted JUST at young kids.
They want to please as many people as possible so that when they release their next game, all the people who currently own this one will buy it. Considering the teens will grow a little older and probably won't be able to play as much any more, it makes sense, even for that group, to shorten the requirments.

                    Neither, can I choose that?

                    A. You decide to make all the levels in the game easier to achieve...Your thought process "I mean really noone should have to spend too much time playing my software.. everyone should be able to beat my software without having to put too much time into it..
Sorry but this is incorrect. It's just as hard for me to get to the top rank as it was before the patch. Rather than taking the projected 2 years now it's down to 1.5 years. They added a new rank and nothing stops them from adding more in the future.

I believe that they mad it easier because it featured in the top 3 things to be changed in the lists made up on the EA UK forums. It was what the public wanted (just look at all the complaint threads from these forums) and it was what the public got.

i choose b. at the end of the day, i want to make money, at the same time i'm keeping the customer happy by allowing them to explore the game more and wetting their appetite for the expantion.

a good point of view btw...

I can't really answer that since I would not release a game with the rank/unlock setup as it was and if I did for some reason I wouldn't have changed it the way they did in the patch. I would maybe leave the ranks as they are but add another half-dozen or dozen unlockable weapons available at point levels between ranks. Maybe give unlocks when you get certain badges or ribbons. Maybe army-specific unlocks. I suppose my reasoning would be closest to 'A' although I would never think about 'beating the game' since there really is no such thing in BF2 multiplayer. You are competing against people, not the game.

First I would like to clarify that America's Army is not a free game...if you are a US Taxpayer that is ..It’s probably the most expensive game you ever bought or didn’t buy if you think about it that way...

Second I would love to see the facts, from credible sources, in which the original poster attained his information....especially the part about the "target" audience....

Finally I would like to say that this is getting old and pretty sure most agree it was a good thing…albeit they might have lowered them a bit much, however they do state that ranks will go through general…so don’t get your panties in a twist just yet…the game hasn’t even been out for 6 months yet

Re: How many of you really think like this:

There’s no question in my mind that it's 'B'
They announced special forces only month and half after BF2.
I had seen no other company in history disregard there original product so quickly. Now it's quite a few months later, and they have cut things down considerably. But after much disgust over how EA/Dice relationship has dealt with the Original BF2 in terms of patches, many polls I've seen on bf2 sites have indicated that the popularity of BF:Special Forces has dropped considerably. It's almost the same number as those interested in purchasing it.

On BF2's home site, there have been lots of new polls indicating that EA wants to know if people care about the ranking system, if there should be a ranking system and if you like getting rewards, etc.
In my opinion this is EA trying to find an easy way out and not deal with the problem and take the effort and time to make it work and balance it out. In Fact that’s the only thing these guys do, every patch, it's "lets not think about what were doing and just hurry up and give this kids what there screaming about, cause it's easier that way"
well, EA/Dice, there’s a reason why you shouldn't listen to them 100% BF2 customers are not game developers. most don't know the first thing about it. That's why your supposed to take customer feed back and have it influence development, but don't have it be exactly what you put into the game; most comments by complaining customers are not well thought out.
But so far it's been "not well thought ideas put into patches"
not to mention EA's Sh*ty BF2 Patch testers.

EA has always tried to find the easy way out, with most of it's games, effort takes money. Money is too important to EA. So the rest of you give EA and EA's influence over DIce too much credit.

just mah 2 cents, and 2 cents is pretty cheep, so you shoudn't have expected much lol
