Startup Problems

When I try to startup BF2, I get the logo and it kinda just stays there. After that, I have trouble starting up any other programs. Ctrl+Alt+Delete and ending the bf2 process gets rid of the logo but not the process itself. Nothing can really run, so I have to reboot

This happens before the patch and after the patch. I've tried reinstalling.

AMD 2600+ (2.08 Ghz)
768 RAM
Geforce 6600 AGP (256 mb)

I have a legit CD with a legit CD Key. Easy Info says I have everything required. Help please? Thanks.

EDIT: I've run this game before on my ATI Radeon 9200, except it got stuck right before the menu screen. I read around and said that the 9200 often has these problems, so I upgraded to the GeForce 6600

well...if you wanna get rid of the proces click on the proceses tab in the task manneger (i presume you have xp) and find the "bf2.exe" procese and then click end proces and conirm.

Yeah... I know how to do that. I click end process, and the logo dissappears, but the process remains in the Task Manager
