What's with this 1.03 patch crap where you can't seem to mutiny a stunned Commander? If the guy won't do the job, the squad leaders should be able to boot him. What am I missing, why didn't I seem to be able to mutiny?

Ok, well this time there was the mutiny option, don't know why the other server didn't have it.
On this one though, it said that 34 votes were needed, but there weren't even 34 players on both sides combined... brilliant, guess you don't need to know much math to program games? -
Re: Don't be a dweeb... if you want the Commander seat, then COMMAND!
Well I'll try to help by pressing the 'V' key and explaining or suggesting, but if he won't do any spotting, UAV, supply drops, etc, then he has no business being in the seat... a Commander is the team's x-ray eyes, and guidance if they want it. When the other team's commander is helping his team, and yours is not, then your team quite handily gets decimated... they always see where you are, and you don't have a clue where the enemy is, 'cause most too many don't take the time to spot the enemy when they see them (which is of great assistance to your team mates).Originally posted by Blak_Pheonix_MBYea, the voting does need to be changed. I think it would be good if SL's got a more powerfull vote than SM's, and SM's got a more powerfull vote than those that are unassigned...
Just UAV'ing is not enough... ideally you scan to see where the enemy is (unless your team is converging on a base and need/want the UAV to help them in), determine where UAV will be most effective, quickly dispatch it, then start spotting enemy in other areas of the map where needed.
Even though I'm UAV'ing a base at the S of the map for a squad swooping down on a base, while scanning just before, I might have noticed a blip advancing on a base somewhere else on the map, and since there's one of our guys at this other base, I will right-click on the map near where I know/think the enemy blip to be, so that my guy at that base gets a heads up that there's a bogey coming in. I might be doing the same at several points on the map... the UAV is not the be all and end all of spotting for your team.
If you see a bogey approaching a base from the seven o'clock position, and another from the 5 position, you can right-click around the 7 and spot him, and then right-click at around the 5 to spot the second blip for your team mate(s) at said base. At least those who are somewhat attentive (which not all are!) have a better chance of successfully defending the base.
I think the Commander's most important role is spotting for his team. Guidance might be as important when commanding a clan or other such group, as opposed to commanding a rag-tag team from a server you just jumped on. While most will 10-4 when you suggest a base to attack, often times they'll just continue fighting and not make their way to the suggested attack/defend point. Thus my contention that spotting will be of most help to a Commander's team.Comment

Yea i agree, i alwys try to help my team out (as i often play commander) and im not one of those ones that sits there launching arty on team mates heads, and i dont run into the thick of battle and get killed, i scan, drop UAV's and Supplies, yes i use arty, but wisely, and spot. And the best part is i love doing it! :)Comment

Re: Don't be a dweeb... if you want the Commander seat, then COMMAND!
I help out my team by spotting the enemy while taking a flag but like actually talking to them and telling them where the enemy is hiding. Telling them stuff not just click...uav,arty ect... If my team sucks hardcore then I fight and command.Comment

Yea, i love using VOIP to talk to SL, but its also annoying as often i want to talk to all the unassigned people, but i have to type everything to them.
While were talking about VOIP, i recon it would be rly kool if they made is so that when you are in a tank/heli/APC.. etc you can talk to all the other people in there using VOIP.Comment

Re: Don't be a dweeb... if you want the Commander seat, then COMMAND!
It would be nice if all the unassigned were in a default squad where you could say stuff to them. Or if there was a radio channel to speak to the whole team actually. Because sometimes you just want to say good job, you know?Originally posted by Blak_Pheonix_MBYea, i love using VOIP to talk to SL, but its also annoying as often i want to talk to all the unassigned people, but i have to type everything to them.

Re: Don't be a dweeb... if you want the Commander seat, then COMMAND!
commanders ROCK when they command
we play with about 4-8 guys on Ventrillo
and 95% of the time, one of us is commander
and we will then win about 80-90% of the time
yes - we are talented = but the CO giving us instructions and warnings makes a TON of difference
if we have a CO that is NOT on ventrillo = and he is still active, we still win most times
if we catch the CO - fighting - or even worse - flying @@!!!! arrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrghhh - we (ie all of us) tell him to command or get kicked - well
they either comply, or resign, or get kicked
thier choice
ps
our commander almost ALWAYS get a medal
usually goldComment

Well said Hiking!! And on another note. If the commander IS doing all the things you said, (like I also do) don't be a dweeb and mutiny just because your side happens to be losing. And don't be a dweeb and mutiny just so you can be commander and then proceed to NOT do any of the things you mentioned.Comment

Re: Don't be a dweeb... if you want the Commander seat, then COMMAND!
i think that a Commander should lie down in some unimportant part of the battlefield and have the commander map on all the time! perhaps he could be an engineer incase something in the base got destroyed...Comment

Re: Don't be a dweeb... if you want the Commander seat, then COMMAND!
I only recently felt qualified to start commanding, and I agree that a commander should be full time. It's a rush to spot an enemy waiting to ambush my guys. I only wish I wasn't too busy to watch him get blasted by them, but I'm on to the next task. Artillery seems best reserved for an enemy base, especially where important vehicles need to be destroyed before they are used.
I don't generally bother with the "go here" commands. Good squad leaders will know what to do anyway, with the right intel, and bad squad leaders will ignore you. So there's little point (at least in pickup play).
You really should be scanning and UAV as often as it is available. It makes a tremendous difference. Guys can be much more aggressive when they know where the opposition is.Comment

Re: Don't be a dweeb... if you want the Commander seat, then COMMAND!
^^^
the "go here" commands are useful to:- stop a single enemy from stealing a flag
- to cap a flag that is not defended
- to ambush troops enroute
and even better (but rare)
to say MOVE here as a way to yell
GET THE HELL away!!! - superior forces coming !!
(ie no sense fighting a losing battle! :wall: )Comment

Voting is still crap after the patch..Originally posted by HikingWhat's with this 1.03 patch crap where you can't seem to mutiny a stunned Commander? If the guy won't do the job, the squad leaders should be able to boot him. What am I missing, why didn't I seem to be able to mutiny?
Mutiny, Map Changes.. doesnt matter.. its almost impossible
to get a vote accomplished.. and the one thing I hate about
this game the most is the useless commanders.. who either do
nothing at all, all game, or they only uav/supply themselves..
either way, they are considered stat padders in my book because
all they are going after is the 2x bonus..
I had heard that the voting was supposed to have been worked on,
but obviously not.. and at EAs pace of fixing things, BF2008 will be
out by then..Comment
