To all that have all the Veterans badges has this happened to you ???

I have heard about the "inability" to "gain" further rank (the 1st Sgt issue) if you achieved "one" or more veteran badges "before" you achieved "all" the "basic" badges.

But....

Has anyone then "after, not" being able to gain further rank due to the above then "gained, all" the veteran badges and was "then given" there ranks that they/you were due?

Meaning that the none ranking bug sorts it self out!

BTW I found an EA official reply to the 1st Sgt issue.....

We want to let our players know that DICE is aware of the issue and may be addressing this in a future patch. Unfortunately, at this time we are unable to award this rank but we are hoping that a retroactive fix in the future may correct this error in the ranking system. I’m afraid we have no ETA on this currently and apologize for the trouble.

I went to bf2s.com and it said I got the basic and vet at the same time. I think you need to have all the badges by 20,000 for you to be promoted to First Sergeant.

yea, it wont get you promoted. I earned the basic and vet pistol badge at the same time, and then reearned the basic pistol after i had already been promoted...so...no 1st sgt for me unless they fix it...and if not...well if i still play the game enough to get 50000, at least i can get sgt major.

If you don't have all the basic combat badges by 20k then I don't think you deserve the rank in the first place.

But it is a pretty lame bug.

The combat and the meritorious badge's are easy to get just takes time its the armor,plane and helicoter ones's that should be reduced to 30hrs each and 100 for gold

My understanding of the problem is it has nothing to due with a mix of veteran and basic and everything to do with if you've gotten both veteran and basic of the same badge in the same round.

For example, you already have 50 pistol kills and decide to go for 7 in one round to get the badge. The game sees the 7 kills and goes, "Hey, good job here's your basic pistol." Then it realizes you already have the 50 required for veteran and AT THE SAME TIME goes, "Alright, here's your veteran!" My understanding is when it sends it to the stat server it just registers that you got the veteran badge. (or the fact you got them AT THE SAME TIME screws something up.)

So when 20k points comes around the stat server looks at your profile and says, "wait a sec. you don't have basic pistol, you just have veteran pistol... you need basic to get 1st sarge, n00b! kthx bye!"

at least that's how i understand it.

I got my badges (sure they were earned over 20,000 points though???) and 1st serg rank fine after 1.03, but then got a time played bug - over 3000 hrs played. What is that about? Can anyone fix it??? In reality its just over 300 hrs.

It's easy to fix this bug..

...Simply play more until 50,000 pts!
I can't wait until I hit the next rank and get my last unlock. I'm playing so rarely lately it seems that I've gained 2000 points in two weeks.

According to UBAR for the basic pistol you only need 5 pistol kills... is this correct? If so then as soon as you get your basic pistol, stop using it until you get your rank.

Yes, that's true. In 1.02 it was 7 pistol kills for both basic AND veteran, and that's what was messing some people up. I'm pretty sure that Dice lowered the requirement for basic so that you couldn't, in fact, get both at the same time (unless maybe you finished off a smoking BH with your pistol to get 6 kills at once ). That said, I got both my basic and veteran in the same round in 1.03 and both show up on my totalbf2 stats, so I think I'm good to go there.

The knife kills are still 7 in a round, though, so I don't know why they changed pistol but not knife.
