Crash to desktop - where is the error?

The game seems to run great, full graphics, but at least once every half an hour, the game locks, then goes to desktop. The in game sound skips about 8 times before the game shuts down. I've uninstalled and reinstalled drivers for the graphics card, sound card and xp updates. I try to make sure nothing is running during playing that doesn't need to be. Antivirus and firewall are off. I can't find an error anywhere, even the event viewer logs. Even the DXDIAG finds no problems whatsoever.

Re: Crash to desktop - where is the error?

Is it possible that after 30 minutes of playing, the gfx card and/or CPU get overheated and the system reboots?

yea, my old system used to do that every once in a while, quite rare in fact. i played on mostly high settings with minimal problems, you'll laugh when you see my old system specs.

Dont disscount it , fans do fail ( bearings / dirt etc ) at least renew to eliminate the possible cause of your issue . All about trouble shooting.

Actually I have no problem with performance in this game. I run all graphics at high with everything on and no problems at all.

As for heat being an issue, I recently updated my case to a Antec P180. All fans are running. Peak temperatures for my processor run about 57C according to Active Monitor and ThrottleWatch, and GPU temps never reach 60C during play.

DELTA_Dorff, could you try playing the game with medium sound/gfx settings. It'd be the fastest way to test if your card and/or RAM were under strain.
