Hi everyone
I'm making a mod right now and it requires that I modify one of the files called a nametag. (the files that appear over the flagpoles Ingame; known as 3D map) Anyway the files itself is 16x16 pixels. The part that has the actual picture is about half the height but the same width. When you open the file it uses a black background for the flag picture. When I edit it and save as .dds it shows the black background. Which is odd because even though the vanilla pictures have that same background it disappears ingame. To give you a better idea of what I mean this is a screenshot of the vanilla file magnified to 1600 times:
650) {this.width=650;this.alt='Click here to see a large version';}" border=0>
So I thought ok minor glitch I know what to do. I opened up a new blank file and made it 16x16 with a transparent background. I add the flag picture in the middle and save as .dds. I opened the game and this time it filled the background with white. I know I made the background picture transparent because I use photoshop, used the transparent background on the drop-down box and when I was editing the file the background was the checkerboard pattern. So now I'm confused. To shows you what I did look at this screenie (again it is maginified by a lot):
650) {this.width=650;this.alt='Click here to see a large version';}" border=0>
I have one more idea. I open up the nametag file again and crop it to size so their is no background at all. I saved it and started the game. But as the level is loading I get a CTD as the level is loading.
Ok so now I think something is wrong with the way I am saving the file. I am using the Nvidia .dds tools and when I go to save a box come up with a whole mess of options to chose from. See Screenshot:
650) {this.width=650;this.alt='Click here to see a large version';}" border=0>
The option I use is the one highlighted. I have fooled around with some other options on the drop-down menu but to no avail. If anyone has any idea what I am doing wrong please post the solution here. Any help would be greatly appreciated. **If anyone fins this hard to understand I can take a few more screenshots to show you what I mean.
Thanks
