Problems reinstalling BF2 Help!!!

I have uninstalled bf2 a million times before and sucessfully
reinstalled using the auto uninstaller and installer.
My problems came when i manually uninstalled following the official EA
websites instructions to the t.
When i try to install the game I can install everything until it comes
up to the updating directX 9.0c window it stops here I thought it was
updating so i left it for an hour just to be sure and task manager says
it is running so i can't figure the problem.
In the past this dirextX 9.0 part of the installation only lasted a few
seconds and i'd finish installing the game
I've tried everything i can think of,torning off background tasks, torn
off firewalls and antivirus progs even skipping this part of the
installation but the game won't work without it.and I've also restored
the registry back up file and this did nothing as well.
Can someone please Help?????
System specs r AMD athlon 3500+,ga k8n ultra sli mobo. 1 gb ram, 120gb
hdd, 1x6600gt.
PS: I've also tried a manual install i get the same problem.

i had a prob installing once so i installed it in safemode with networking and it worked great.hope it will work for ya.oh and a few times as i was installing it would just like freeze so i would open up my pc click on the d drive and explore soon as i did that it started back up ???
