Really wierd mouse issue!

I have been using the mx700 for a long time now with no problems. In fact I have played BF2 for a while without much of a problem... until now. I have just reinstalled my OS and now every time I play a round the side mouse buttons lose their functionality in mid game. However, before I reinstalled any thing I had this same problem, but it would happen so rarely it wouldn't bother me much at all. Now this happens every time I play so it's very annoying. I have installed everything from patches to mouseware exactly the same as before the reinstall so I can't figure it out. I'm completely out of ideas.

Have you got the latest version of the drivers?

Yes I do have the latest drivers. I even tried to use some kind of gaming utility their support site suggests. Guess what... it didn't work.

Ebay the thing and get a New one. is it cordless?
My mx 700 has a charger with is turns out it wasnt on the charger all the way and would lag and then die. also the recever was to far away as well. i hope this helps. Please let me know.

The reason why I titled this as "really weird mouse issue" is because it is. The mouse works perfect for everything and anything including BF2 to some extent. The weird part I'm referring to is that the only time the side buttons give me trouble is in the middle of a round. If I restart the game it works fine again but only for another 10 minutes or so, more if I'm lucky. This started happening after I did the reinstall I mentioned before. I know it's not a matter of where the charger is located or whether or not the batteries are being charged. I say this because the battery level is fine and the charger has been in the same spot since I got the mouse, a little over a year.
