hey all can someone please tell me and help me step by step how to overclock my cpu its an intel celeron d proc 330, 478pin 2.66ghz 256KB Cache, 533Mhz FSB and i was wondering if it is possble to get it to 3ghz with just the stock fan without any fancy cooling system its usually between 28C (86F) 40C (102F) and i was wondering if it was possible to do without it starting to fry ???? og btw the 40C (102F) is when its like 22-26C (72-76F) inside the house okay

http://www.hardocp.com/articles.html Go there and read, read, read, and check the forums. I just would like to point out that OCing and Stock cooling shouldn't be in the same sentence. You don't necessarily need "fancy" cooling, but an aftermarket cooling solution is a very wise investment. Especially considering it isn't that expensive at all.

Yeah if you're going to overclock, you should definitely get a better heatsink/fan. Also make sure to put some Arctic Silver 5 on there

Your bios/chip will effect what you can do as far as the level of oc'ing, and no 'fancy' cooling is needed, just a better heatsink/fan.

I have a 2600+ MOBILE chip, which I've jacked the multiplier up so that its running like a 3200, around 2.2ghtz. Only change in cooling was a better heatsink and 92mm fan. My power supply also has dual fans, which helps with airflow.

O.Clocking a celeron cpu is a bit risky becuz it's technology is already some what "pushed". Tho u can try, u have to enter Bios (for most pcs press del when counting ram, just after reboot), then seek for advanced settings and u'll find those related with cpu speed and settings.

OC'ing with stock ccoling is fine, you just have to be more carefull and really watch the temps of the CPU.. etc, i do it, as i havnt gone out to ge any other cooling yet, you just cant OC it as much.

You don't need anything more than stock cooling if you're only planning to OC a tiny bit. To attempt speeds such as what you're talking about though, an aftermarket heat sink would be a must. Also remember to look up your CPU on the internet to see how far anyone else has pushed it.

H8 to be the bearer of bad news but celerons are not best suited to gaming let alone overclocking, with a 256kb cache onboard it can barely keep up with the demands made of it by the latest games.

Celerons are designed for basic desktop computing & are cut down versions of real cpu's (cheap).

However the easiest way to overclock is enter your bios & increase your fsb speeds in 5mhz increments, reeboot each time & test for stability by running a demanding 3d application such as aquamark or 3dmark.

okay all well i got it to 3ghz no prob its stable and everything the temp only rose a few degrees so i think all has gone smooth ill tell ya all if anything goes wrong but yea its all good atm

btw i put it on 2.8ghz and played bf2 for about 30mins and it was fine aswell
