How many sticks of ram u have?
And it's called dual channel... it's a easy ($$$) way some manufacturers found to supply 64bits of ram in a 32bits RAM sticks mother board using 64bits socket CPUs. It all depends on the type of M.O. u have.
On easy talking.... 2/4 sticks, the cpu gets 64bits of data each cycle, 1/3 sticks and the cpu has to do 2 data fetches (cycles) to get same 64bits of data.

Well you mean DUAL CHANNEL. It depends on the motherboard and with a celery as old as that, im pretty sure your motherboard doesnt have it. Besides, you only have one stick of memory so it wouldnt work anyways. To use dual channel you need a motherboard that supports it and 2 sticks of matching memory. It wouldnt really help performance on that celery anyways so dont think your missing too much. You should look into gettin a Athlon 64 or a Pentium 4.

Dual channel is intended for 64bits CPUs.
Ur's not a 64bit one.
Ask for one (compatible w/ ur M.O.) in ur local store. Then again u have to have 2 or 4 sticks of ram.

Yeah, first of all you can't run dual channel with 1 RAM stick, as you've got now. Your RAM is compatible with dual channel (most are), but you need another stick to get dual channel.

I just found some information about your motherboard, and unfortunately it doesn't look like it supports dual channel:

DDR 400
Supports up to 2GB of Single channel DIMM modules, delivering bandwidth of 3.2GB/sec.

You are totally wrong on the 64 bit ram thing. Where did you hear 64 bit ram from? Having dual channel is a feature that depends on the CHIPSET on the motherboard and yes you can have dual channel with only a 32 bit processor. I had dual channel with my old 32 bit Pentium 4 2.4 i had before this Athlon 64. You are right about having to have 2 or 4 sticks of memory however.

Actually your 1/2 right, with olders CPUs it depended on the motherboard. Now with A64s (s939) the memory controler in on-die and independant of the chipset.
