Just recently upgraded from onboard sound to a soundcard (Audigy2). I am looking at buying a surround sound headset with mic (non-USB). Anyone have suggestions?

I am already using a USB headset because I only have an onboard sound card. What I am looking for is something that runs through the Audigy2 sound card. Can you explain the advantages? The only potential problem with this is that I have to speak pretty softly when I am playing late at night. Otherwise, I have a pretty grumpy wife. Thus, my need to have a mic that is situated pretty close to my mouth.Originally posted by HellzxFluffyBunnyComment

I set my mic sensitivity to 0. The benefit is you are not limiting yourself to a handful of OK-sounding to crappy sounding headsets when for the same price you can have good-to-awesome sound with a just as good mic. Funny cause I assumed a USB mic would be superior...opps. Now I've got to go out shopping. MMMmm Audigy.
I'm using the PS2 headset (socom) and althought the sound is questionable, I can listen for the kids/wife with one ear and play with the other.
as for the wives being crabby...isn't that part of the definition of being a wife?Comment

I'm using my socom 3 ps2 headset which works fine, surprisingly.
edit: why isn't it showing my actual stats from the game? I'm using the same name but I'm a Sgt on the game. Am I missing something?Comment

God I played Socom, good game shame about some of the players and the lag, I broke that headset prettty quickly, when I started using it for PC aswell as PC. Or atleast it was laggy on the EU servers!Originally posted by NodhereComment

Medusa 5.1 Surround Headset (Speed-Link) Got One .. Great surround sound headset with 4 speakers in each earpiece. Excellent, really comfortab;le even after 6 hours of gameplay and no porkchop ears LOL. Well reccomended. Look around on the net as there are some great deals on them.
