Anyone following the thread in the Client Support forum probably understands why up until now I have been unable to get online with BF2, but it all magically came together tonight, so with a warm and fuzzy feeling inside my trousers, I entered on to multiplayer BF2.
Now, don't get me wrong, I'm no stranger to online games, and have actively played everything I can get my hands on. Not too bad at it either, and am pleased to say that apart from a few surprises, my first foray on to a ranked server didn't go too badly. Probably won't see any of my points, had to quit halfway through the 2nd round due to the little one's nappy exploding. But there you go, that's parenting for you.
It was nice to see some of the bugs that you guys have been talking about for a while. After reading about them, and then seeing them after so long, it's almost like finding the lost city of atlantis, but without the erection-qualities. Favouring spec-ops which I enjoyed practicing with, it was great to see the bug that magically turns your "blow up my C4" gadget into a "here's some more c4".
I joined a squad, people seemed to do what the commander asked, it was quite enjoyable, and nobody got ratty when I was busy setting off a C4 on an APC which a teammate had just got in. I ensured that they got the appropriate "sorry", and helpfully packaged up their remains to send back to any loved ones.
Overall, thoroughly enjoyed it and shall look forward to meeting you psychos out there in the future. Look for Kanuna, every permutation of Vasquez seems to have been taken, with the exception of "GayPinkVasquez" which I didn't fancy.
