The stance EA/DICE should have taken

Now I've been waiting on Duke Nukem Forever.............well forever, but 3d Realms has the right idea

    * 1.11 - When will DNF be released?
DNF will be released "When It's Done." What this means is that 3D Realms will not release the game until they are sure it is the best first person shooter ever. There is no exact date, and any dates currently offered by anyone are purely speculation.

Anyone waiting to release their game until its the "best first person shooter ever" is obviously taking the **** as thats an impossible task. Is there an online betting agency taking bets on DNF never coming out? Its been in development now for what, 5+ years. If theyre still actually developing it, it must be on its 3rd or 4th graphics engine, never mind the fact that FPS tastes have dramatically changed in that time too....

If EA had taken that stance over BF2, we'd simply never have played it. I'd like even one example of a game thats come out for the PC and been completely perfect from woah to go.

That's a BS stance. I'd much rather have a great game now than a perfect game at some point in the distant future.

Yeah a lot of people say "When its done" in the software industry, but then reality spoils their ideology. They run out of cash in their budget, or its taking too long & the accounting guys it must be released now so that profits are in the right budget. So they release it to generate revenue & then release patches to fix the bugs from their rushed release. Welcome back to the planet

ok so maybe not so radical, but still, more time should have been spent testing and less cutting things out

Well, whether it ends up being the 'best ever..' who knows..

but I agree.. I wish EA had some balls like this.. but you got to remember..

EAs main goal is not to finish a game, but to get PAID first..then finish
it only if the complaints are big enough..
