Deleteing profile for performance thing

I know this has been explained before but i have searched and can't find what i need to know.

So can someone please remind me about the thing where you delete somthing from your profiles folder in my docs to rebuild it the next time you fire up the game? I have recently changed from a fx5600 gfx card to a 6800GT and its not as smooth as it should be.

..\My Documents\Battlefield 2\mods\BF2\Cache\ and delete the folder(s) with the long alphanumeric names.

and if you want to clean your profiles:
..\My Documents\Battlefield 2\Profiles\000X\

Where 000x folders are your profile x=1,2,3..., you can then retrieve the account from the Manage Accounts in the logon screen. You probably don't need to delete your profiles, but starting from a default profile won't hurt.

ok and when i fire up bf2 after that i assume it rebuilds them and it should then run faster?

I got a 3D mark 2005 score of about 4800 which is pretty good so it shouldn't lag now and then on bf2 at 1280x1024 on high should it?

If you delete the Cache it will run through the Optimizing Shaders or w/e it say.

Deleting profiles means you have to set keyboard, audio, video and game settings again.

The first time you play the game after flushing the old settings it will take longer than normal. After that it should be much better.

However, with a 6800 GT you should really be running it on at least 1280 x 1024, everything on high. You may even be able to get away with 1600 x 1200. The 6800GT is a great card. I can run my 6800 vanilla on 1280 x 1024 with everything on high and it's nice and smooth.

yeah thats what i thought i dunno if maybe its somthing else letting it down? i have a socket 478 P4 2.53ghz 533mhz fsb cpu 2 x 512mb corsair xms low ltency pc3200 ram and 7200rpm ata133 hdds.

i think its only when you have changed your video settings mate. The reason i asked about it is because i have changed graphics card and of course not reinstalled the game so im hoping this will really help me out.
