My opinion regarding the 1.03 patch (very long wall of text)

Or maybe the stat padders just assume it's working or maybe, with all the lowering of rank requirements, they don't feel the need to do it anymore. I'd be very interested to know if anyone has actually tested this to see if it's working,
Re: My opinion regarding the 1.03 patch (very long wall of text)
What was the claim? Something like 130 fixes? I'd be hard pressed to name 10-15.
The red/blue tag thing is just unacceptable, especially since they've made it WORSE somehow, lol.
Oh, and there are some missing textures, as you mentioned. On dragon valley, large map, at the base where the USMC blackhawk spawns there is an invisible offshore wall just nnw of that base. I was looping around for another run in the cobra and we went boom! We were like, "wtf" "wtf?".
How do you screw up a server browser filter? How do you not fix it when you know it is broken? We're talking simple string comparison here to make a filter work... and they can't do it. I'm thinking that all of that code is gamespy's and they can't touch it, and due to their spat, gamespy won't fix it either.

Very well written and researched post, you make valid points with everything you said. Its only one of a few posts that aren't just a bitch fest. It gets so exhausting seeing posts either people whining aboout the same thing over and over and those that whine about the whiners. Especially the reality whiners, one shot kill sniper wannabe.
Fix the major flaws and then add other things....its how business is run

I sometimes wonder how the hell did Gamespy manage to become the most used 3rd party browser, more than ASE obviously, and at the same time be integrated with many games such as BF2. It's simply crap.
Re: My opinion regarding the 1.03 patch (very long wall of text)
the QA ppl/testers have IQ comparable to a monkey.
1. how can you have missed the memory leak in patch... what was it - 1.01?!?!
2. how can you have missed that the server search filter doesn't work?!?!
the so-called patch was released for two reasons:
1. to give us a new map
2. to include the video director's name in the credit
Re: My opinion regarding the 1.03 patch (very long wall of text)
Couldn't agree with your post more. Hope someone from DICE reads this because they really do deserve a kick in the nuts for the way they've treated their paying customers.

Back at home: Thanks for the praise guys :)
I also urge other people to not be alienated by the long post and instead read this since those who already read it believed it was worth the read and time.

I think you just passed wolfgang in post length. It was a great read though. I'm glad that you put both the good and the bad in there, and the quotes were awesome. Overall grade: A

Yup, all my quote jokes would give readers a hint about the section further down below:
The First Joke: This joke is a satire which points out 3 points/humor: It first implies the nametag bug (Here known as Vet.Bug since it's been with us since the demo) and its effect, the all-obvious prefix bug, and my wish that devs of DICE and staffs of EA will also be affected from these bugs.
The second joke is an obvious sarcasm of the useless improvements and changes the 1.03 made.
The third joke is a personification of how patch 1.03 caused BF2 to give birth to more bugs.
The fourth joke requires some knowledge in computers. Basically a customer brings in a broken computer known as version 1.03 along with mouse and keyboard which are also known as output (Monitor displays data) and input (Keyboard inserts data) pheriperals. The sales clerk (EA/DICE) in response gives the customer the very same computer under a new name with the version 1.10 (Patch 1.03 = Patch 1.10).
Basically the sales clerk gave the customer the identical computer brand and model under another name which would inevitably be broken as did the previous computer.
The section after that deals with problems that persisted after DICE has claimed to have fixed in patch 1.03/1.10.
The fifth joke is referenced from the structure Geico uses for their humourous commercials. They provide an off-topic and exciting or unsettling scenario and suddenly brings out their name and business. Here, the protagonist finds his world in sure doom, but just the day before he saved some money from Gieco so at least there's one positive but diminutive news out of the whole chaos.
Basically what I mean is that even though there are a lot of negative features, tweaks, and bugs within the patch, the very same source also brought out some benefactory changes that should recieve recognition.
The sixth joke uses animals to portray the quality of the remake of the map: Wake Island. When a bird feeds its young, it would regurgitate, or throw out, the food after being chewed up so that the young could easily digest it. That's how I felt what Wake Island 2007 was, DICE basically made a straight remake with no optimizations in gameplay and balance to where its crappy as chewed up worms compared to Wake Island in BF1942. At the same time, many people have eulogized DICE's benevolence for this "fresh and exciting" map hence the reason to add in "and feed it into to you like it was new."
The seventh joke is referenced from the "The Simpsons" Episode 99. Mr. Burns was in a movie advertisement to promote his audition where he will select a boy who will become his heir and therefore will inherit his vast vast vast fortune once he dies...vast. This advertisement begins before the movie and instead of "feature conclusion" he says "feature presentation" but is told he must walk to the right to dance and sing the "Let's all go to the lobby" song.
