I get it too mate. TBH, I dont think its a lag issue, I have a 2.2mb connection, and a decent rig which runs everything smoothly on 1024x768 with all the settings on medium (No AA/AF and whatnot).

It is very annoying, since sometimes you end up chucking the second one in a friendly spawn, so you cant detonate as you will most likely get TK's aswell.

happened to me lot of time and i had to find a way to conter this... since its a lag problem i presume, the only way to do it right is to not believe what you are seeing but what you pressed...
so what i do is when i dropped c4 and imediatly switch back to detonator, the c4 pack will stay on your screen for a momment( but in reality you already hold the detonator) so even with the c4 pack in hand i know i have the detonator so i press the fire button, it trows a C4 (sometimes not) but the charges explode for me. and no one sees the C4 pack trowed by the lag...

another lag bug for me is for example i want to put c4 packs on the 4tips of a chopper rotor... in a lag-free server they will stick on em but in a laggy server like 80+ ping: they just pass right trough after stiking for .5sec on the rotor, my teamate sees them on the floor.

I have been meaning to try this since someone else mentioned they could - but if you hold down the fire button, do you spam all 5 c4's out real quick?

If you are in a hurry to plant - knowing you might die from your own c4 because the tank is still close to you (or just die from the hands of that tank because you can't use your detinator from the bug)...why not just spam all the c4 down - who knows, maybe the extra boom will take out another enemy that is close by.

I am pretty sure its a lag issue. Even if you have a fast connection, you could be experiencing lag because the server cannot keep up. I am pretty sure that laying down C4 and switching to det. must be validated by the server before you see it happen on your end. It would make sense to do so since it would not be fair if your opponent cannot see you switching to your detonator. I do seem to have this problem more with the new patch. I am going to go test this out at home. Find my self an empty corner to play in and blow myself up a bunch of times!

I don't think it is a lag problem because I havn't had problems switching to other weapons when I need to quickly. If it is lag, it is server side. If it was client side you'd never be able to hit anyone with bullets.

Really weird. I've heard and even seen the C4 bug happen lots of times (and this thread is evidence enough of people suffering from it..) and yet I have vet. spec ops, and I've still only had it happen to me once! And I use C4 quite a lot, too...

IT IS NOT LAG. You can do it in your own server with 0 ping. Its been around since the game originally came out. After I found out that the 1.03 patch didn't fix it I immediatly started playing Medic instead of Special Forces. I'm not one of those noob Special Forces that lay down C4 and just sit somewhere waiting for something to go on top of it, I prefer to use my C4 when I run into stuff, its much more fun. But like I said because of this bug I quit playing Special Forces for now and moved to Medic, its simply that bad of a bug, it got me killed SO MUCH.

I've had this bug happen to me as well, and it is highly irritating. I don't know what causes it exactly, but I don't think it is lag related. Especially since it happened again while I was playing a single player round. My best guess is that it is a bug, perhaps aggrevated by the speed of the switch between the detonator and detonating.

It's not a lag problem. I think it's a "I'm in a hurry problem". It's happened to me several times but only when I was in a hurry to lay down some C4 and detonate. I have a 10mbit cable connection. I'm confident it isn't lag.
