Psp Opinions Needed...

Hi Guys,
I have been thinking about getting a PSP for sometime, what I need to know is; Are they worth it? I mean they look cool and the features sound awesome but I have a few friends telling me not to bother (they don't own a PSP it's just their opinion). Currently the PSP costs about $399AU and today the first Video Ipod was released, which also costs about $400AU and the Ipod can't even play games. Now I don't own any sort of portable MP3 player or video player so the PSP IMO sounds perfect for me.

Any thoughts?

I think the PSP is the best device in its price bracket, considering all its functions. The original Ipod was gr8, but Apple are losing it now. The PSP doesn't have the memory/storage of the Ipod, but do you want that much ? I've got a 1Gb Memory stick, and that holds enough MP3 to keep me going. The 1 thing I hate about the PSP MP3 player, is that it just plays tracks in the order they are on the stick, there is no randomize or playlist editting. But hey, its has video, WiFi & multiplayer gaming. If you can afford it, you wont regret buying one.

Ya, you can go online, play games with near ps2 graphics, and watch movies, music, ect. There are also ways to play homebrew games and emulators (imagin all of ur old SNES, NES, ect. games on ur psp!) it's pretty sweet. I would get one. Also a company is making an attachable 4gb hdd for it so it will be on par with the ipod multimedia wise.

HOW?!?!?!?!!??!!?!? I'd love to play Final Fantasy VI and Zelda and all that! Can you just dump programs on the stick such as Zsnes and then just play or is it harder than that!?

yes emu's are allowed but u have to have 1) at least a 512 mb stick 2) serious amount of times on your hands if you want that AND web browsing seein as you have to basicallly hack your PSP. i havnt touched mine yet for fear of breaking and voiding the warranty

Why would you need a 512 stick? And what about the time? I'm not being rude I just want to know so I know what I'm in for The more information I have the better, I am buying it first thing tomorrow morning!

alright, basically u want sumthing a little bigger than a 32mb that comes with it. 128 and up should be alright if ur just doing homebrews and music, but i reccoment a 512. Mustang is right that it is a little harder to have a web browser AND homebrew, but it's gonna happen i bet (u can do it it's just a bit buggy). This is the site i use, it is very good and has legal, virus free stuff. The people there are generally very nice as long as u use the "seach" feature in the forum :). http://pspupdates.qj.net/

The sooner you get it the better becuase sony has released a new firmware that prevents homebrews from running. I doubt that if you get one in the next week it that it will have firmware over 2.0, but that is a risk, (if u read the guides it will all make sense).

Iv bought one and returned it. For me It's not worth it. If your looking to watch a movie on a plain the earphones just wont do it. The Main Speakers dont even go that loud. And if your looking to listen to music, dont get your hopes up. The stick it comes with is 32mg and holds 8 songs at max. And they want you to pay 100 512 stick!! LoL

The Video quality is awesome but all others not to good.

Well I got my PSP and I love it! I bought Metal Geaer Acid, that game is asweet! Though a lil hard :cry:
I have no connections either, the 1Gb Sticks are on special at the moment reduced from $249.95AU to $200AU.

i got a psp yestarday and i even posted on these forums with it (not recommended) i am currently looking for a mini usb cord to dl songs. what games are good? i got twisted metal, and its good. i got my psp used for $200american
