VOIP not working (seemingly after patch)

Hey all, (did a search for VOIP with little results)
My VOIP used to work and I think after the patch it stopped working.

I use a Logitec USB heaset.
I've triple checked all my settings in windows.
It works fine with TS and the VOIP used to work with TS running fine.

When I hit my "push to talk" button in game I get the little green speaker Icon and when I speak it turns red sometimes (Like it used to) but no one in my squad can hear me.
The other really odd thing is I can't hear anyone else? WTF?

My Audio settings seem right but when I do the Mic test get no movement in the bar. (So why does the game Icon turn red then?)

    Any input would be appreciated.

First verify that your mic works in Winblows. If it works there chances are it will work in game. Dont trust the in-game mic test, it is screwy at best.

Yah I am also having this problem along with two of my friends, no one can hear anyone else. Before the patch we could play together and hear each other just fine, after the patch it stopped working. I didnt really notice it not working untill I was yelling at my friend to shoot somoene and he would be shooting in the opposite direction I was saying. Then I found out later he couldnt hear me and nor could I hear him.

Yeah...I have same problem. I got asus p4p 800 se motherboard and im using the onboard soundmax soundcard. Used to work fine and now mic test and ingame voip in bf2 doesnt work (since new patch), but mic works well just in windows. If anyone knows how to fix this let me know or can anyone suggest a good cheap soundcard that works well for voip in bf2.

I had this problem last night. No one could hear me, and there was only one other squad member I could hear. Apparently he could hear one other person in the squad, but I couldn't hear that guy either. It was FUBAR.

I wonder why no ones reported this before.
I'm glad it not only me and not limited to USB headsets.

Re: VOIP not working (seemingly after patch)

This seemed to affect me as well. I run a sounblaster audigy 2 ZS with all the drivers up to date. For the life of me I could not figure out why my mic, seemed to work in every other applications as well as other voip software with no problems. Basically people could hear me in BF2 but I could not hear them.

I was able to fix the problem but ONLY after I deleted BF2. Then reinstalled, bf2, rebooted. Then went into the game and set up the voip. Left the game. Rebooted, then installed the patch.

Then it seemed to work like it had before.

Very strage that it was working fine before.
Im just glad Im chatting again with my squad.

Eeewww...I may just have to try that.
Are you able to go straight from a fresh install to 1.03 or do I have to apply the other patches first? Is 1.03 a 'Full' patch?

Re: VOIP not working (seemingly after patch)

Yes I was able to use the full patch after setting up bf2's voip. For some reason I had not luck just installing bf2, then jumping directly to the 1.03 patch without loading the game first and adjusting the voip.

One other tip, after the 1.03 patch the ingame mic test only seemed to not work well for me unless I put my mic threshold at 0%. Dont know why its so buggy AFTER a patch, lol.........(loads of sarcasim).

Im just happy Im all back up and .........chatting.
I use comms alot with my buddys!

                      Hey thanks for the tib.
It's BS that we would even have to go through this but hey that's EA/DICE for ya.
                      If it ain't fixed...break it.

                        Hey guys,

at least u all can use ur headsets. i am encountering a stranger problem. i just purchased a headset together with my friends. when i tried VOIP by pressing down the B key, my game freezes for around 2 mins, then returns to normal. this happens each time i hold down the b key to talk, which i never manage to. my mike works perfectly fine during bf2 mike test and in other windows applications. does anyone know how to solve this problem?
