my pc freezez help please

hi

i installed the game and runned it when i go on singleplayer everything runs just fine.. when i go to multiplayer i can c the list of servers and pick the server the game loaded and i click join game ,, am in the game picking a place to spawn then the game freezez the pc ,, sometimes i play for 5 min then the game also freezez the pc which i need to reset it to run my pc again

amd 64 fx
1 gb memory
265 nvidia vedio card


patches are loaded: 1,01 1,02 1,03

any clues

Same here, i have no idea how to do this though, i just get those permanant lock ups after 5 seconds of entering the server, or 5-10 minutes if i'm lucky. i have no idea, but at least u know you're not alone.

Your mistake is in loading the 1.01 patch.
Re install then load 1.02 then 1.03. Should be fine then.

Yep same here, after a week of 1.01, i was told to uninstall and reinstalll, i did so, it was working until the last 2 weeks, where the problems arose.

Do a benchmark with 3Dmark05.
Have you overclocked anything ?
Have you deleted all the folders in mydocs/battlefield2/mods/bf2/cache....dont delete the cache folder itself, just all its contents.
What in game video settings are you using, or are you using your own profile settings on your video card ?
What is your video card ?

Ok, for me, i've overclocked vid card, not to posted below, BF2 isn't overclocing friendly enough, i run at about 440/540 for BF2. I just deleted the stuff in the cache folder like told, i'll try it out later, i'm using all the setings from BF2 except for aa and af, which i put on from catalyst control center. And i have a X800XL.

It's your 4th post, so maybe i better tell you how it works.
You asked for help, i replied more than once, ive tried helping you, but you dont answer my questions.

Please dont come here asking for help, then ignore all approaches to do so.

You wont recieve any help withour your FULL pc specification.

In fact i cant be bothered, **** it, im off back to bed, hope your pc can cope.

U don't need to install patch 1.02 to get installed 1.03.
Just uninstall the game, reboot ur pc, install game then 1.03, then update PB.
When about to start the game close ur background applications (inc. Anti-virus and anti-spyware, leave ur firewall).

This sounds like the exact same problem I had with DC (on the BF1942 engine) after upgrading my PC about a year ago.

Do you have a S-ATA disk by any chance?
That was my culprit. The game used to work, but after upgrading my PC it wouldn't. Well, it worked, but hung up after 1-5 minutes.

I updated all my drivers, but to no avail. One day I visited windowsupdate.com to look for updates. There were none, but then I clicked the "manual" (don't know what it's called in English, it's the opposite of Express Install) button.. And a list of the updates available for my computer popped up. 2 important updates, ok.. but then I saw: 1 HARDWARE UPDATE.
I immediately clicked it for details, and it was a SIl S-ATA driver. The thingy is, when using windowsupdate and pressing "Express Install", it only installs the most important updates. You should go for the less important ones too!

I installed it, and the game haven't hung since.

So, to summarize... Make sure your drivers are up to date, and not just your BIOS/Windows/Soundcard/Graphics drivers - but also your hard drive, especially if you're running S-ATA.

Hope this helps.. I was just as lost as you, and had no idea why this was happening.
