5.9 going strong. I don't have any of those games, so I don't care!

WHy do they call it 5.10, that's just like 5.1, and the last ones were 5.9. Or maybe they actually mean 5.10, in which they should have it as version 6.0. But i'm downloadin them now.

They go by year then month. 2005.10(th month of the year). They release a new driver every month this way. Next month it will be 5.11, then 5.12, in January we will get 6.1

I tried them and they run batt2 sweet as for me. Not a single prob as yet.
I was using the Omega 5.9's prior to that the 5.9 Cat's.

ATI usually updates their drivers 1 time per month thus there usually is 12 versions per year.

I like this because they are actively finding problems gamers experience and fixing them. Versus Nvidia who usually takes like 2 months. Granted theirs are a little more comprehensive, but I'd rather have faster releases for big problems then having to wait months on end. Although as of late Nvidia seems to be picking up the pace.

I just did installed a new HD last night and a fresh install of XP, I decided to go with the 5.10's and they've been strong, although the 5.9's fixed my CTD's after 1.03.

Re: ATI Users: Catalyst 5.10 Released !

Someone here said they were going to stick with 5.8 drivers.

I don't know if you can still get 5.9 drivers, if you absolutely dont want 5.10.

Anyway, I went from 5.8 to 5.9 the other day.

I got very noticeable performance improvements with my fairly high-end card. ATI X700.

So, I would suggest you move up from 5.8.

I was getting really good performance before with 5.8. With occasional stickiness.

Now, my performance is a madman.

Some cards have problems with different drivers, for me i got better performance 5.9. I installed 5.10 and have not have any problems. The only problems im not sure yet, but for like Strike at Karkand sometimes i cannot see the mounted guns or TOW missiles, i would be standing on it, and dont see it, i press e, and i mounted, and i get off it, then i see it, also the cars too. But is not all of them, just certain places.

So, whether there are reasons to pass with 5.9 on 5.10 ?

If you have an ATI card you can update to any driver? I have a ATI RADEON X300SE 128, anyone recommend the best driver for this card which will make BF2 run better?

For anyone running anything but the X Series cards are not going to get any improvements from the new driver IMO.
I expect to see a slight increase with an X850XT but I dunno.
