Once upon a time, in a strange land, a young man travelled far across the desert to find the famous Oracle with whom lay all answers to all questions. After many weeks, he found the wise man and threw himself at his feet... "Oracle, wise man, my equipment is not up to scratch to play BF2!!!"

The old man did not hesitate. "Upgrade your equipment".

And he did, and it was good.

I'll have to let somebody with an ATI card help you with this one...

There should be a setting in an advanced ATI control panel that will affect overall brightness via software...

                Try downloading :

Gamma Panel (free) or PowerStrip (shareware I think)

Both programs appow you to adjust the gamma/brightnes of your monitor when the game doesn't let you do it or the settings are already at max.

I use to have this problem with my old 17" CRT monitor. The brightness started wearing off. I found a program called PowerStrip. It came in very handy. You can even adjust settings while still in game.

                  Go here to download

EDIT: DOH!! The guy above me beat me to it. Damn.. thats what I get for searching on google trying to help someone out :hmm:

The problem is you cannot have either of the 2 lighting video settings in game upto med/high.

If you upgrade your processor, get at least another 2x512 ram, a video card with 256mb and a monitor thats supports higher res's and refresh rates.

Then the sun will shine for you.

I liked the flashlight idea the best. You should drop PowerStrip and go with that.

Cool, for future reference too the ATI control panel also allows you to adjust gamma and brightness, one setting for full screen 3D and one for desktop.

I had a problem with my monitor being too dark too but this sorted it, there are also hot keys you can use - things like ctrl+shift+pageup = increase gamma etc. (That was off the top of my head as I'm not at my pc - but the control panel tells all)

PowerStrip is extremely easy to use, i used it while on my old monitor. Everything was perfect after that.
