i had previously made BF2.exe all access in my norton internet security 2005 (windows firewall is not in use and to make sure i still allow programs access, even with it off).
everything was fine from 1.0 to 1.02, it was only a problem trying to update from 1.03 and the only solution i found worked was to close down all background programs and install the patch, after installation i would start up my NIS2005 and other background programs with no problems.
my problem was not that i hadnt granted access as i had given access from the begginning.
