    CD to DVD for BF2

    okay, i got the BF2 3 CD set becase all the DVD versions were sold out at the time. i'm wondoring if there is a way to burn a DVD from the 3 CDs. it just makes reinstalling the game so much easier... i've had to do it meny times allready because of my problems with 1.03... but thats besides the point.

    if anyone knows a way to do this, please let me know.

    thanks in advance,

      Probably because noone has tried it.

      I've seen people take a 3-cd warez version of a game and stick it all onto one DVD but I'd imagine that you wouldn't be able to do that with your legal version due to software protection.

      How often do you think you'll be reinstalling the game that putting it on DVD will make it worth it?

          1) Create a Temp folder on your harddrive.
          Name this folder: BF2 CD 1. This will be the name (Label) of our DVD.

          2) Copy all the contents from CD1 to the Temp folder.
          3) From CD2 copy only the ‘data3.cab’ file to the same Temp folder.
          4) From CD3 copy only the ‘data4.cab’ file to the same Temp folder.

          5) Burn the contents of the Temp folder to a DVD with the Label: BF2 CD 1

          NOTE: If you want to label the DVD to something different like ‘BF2 DVD’ then you will need to edit the Autorun.inf file!
          Using the Notepad, open the Autorun.inf file and add the following 2 lines:

          Name=BF2 DVD
          Label=BF2 DVD

          The Autorun.inf file should now look like this:

          [autorun]
          icon=BF2.ico
          open=Autorun.exe

          Name=BF2 DVD
          Label=BF2 DVD

          Now you can burn the DVD using the label: BF2 DVD

            Considering how many times would ever install the game, is it really worth the hassle?

              Considering the BUGS whose only fix seems to BE re-installing, I don't find this to be a bad idea at all for CD version owners

              Man..I nearly crapped my pants when I bought UT2k4 and found 6 CDs inside!!! They went and released the DVD version later

              I made a DVD version of that RIGHT away. Too bad I only ever played it a handful of times

              But I still re-install it after a sysem re-format...I enjoy it in 'small' doses.

                  Is that mostly because games release later in the UK or is it because most PCs in the UK have DVD drives?

                  I would HOPE that most games these days should ONLY release on DVD. DVD drives are standard in all new PCs and are EXTREMELY cheap to buy.

                    dunno, all those titles came out the same time as for you in the US, give or take a few days.

                      5) Create another folder/s for any Updates, Serial, Patches and or Cracks etc.
                      NOTE: Name this/these folder/s whatever you want.

                            Yes, you should be able to install from HDD. I haven't tried it personally, but it SHOULD work.

                              There..I edited the 'quote'.

                              As much as I LOVE that site...I hate that it is FULL of warez people 99% of the time looking for a way to play their pirated copies.
