Anyone have tips? I read on here somewhere, can't find it, about remapping your mouse keys to lock on armor... Anyone have that link? Any more tips?

I would be interested in that, too. I think they changed the way they work in the 1.03 patch but so far it seems the same to me. I just click on a target and then click again to fire. I had about 15 kills today with a really good pilot. Some pilots fly so erratically, bobbing and weaving you can never lock on a target.

Jup,get a good pilot,let him fly slow or hover a sec and aim to your target and make adjustments while inflight with the missile..

As motor stated, it seems exactly the same to me as well.

Though a good pilot helps a LOT, once you get really good at TV guiding, you'll be able to curve the missile and get the tank that the pilot just WONT set you up for.

The best advice I can give you is just to practice. The more you do it, and the more you learn from your mistakes, the better you get. The good thing about TV missiles is you get instant feedback. You know if you hit, and if you missed, you usually know why and to which direction.

Just remember that the missile heads toward the spot you clicked (marked by a small X), which can be changed by additional clicks. Additionally, it tends to steer slightly towards the relative position of your mouse (it will go up if your mouse is near the top of the screen).

If you have a friend who will pilot for you, make sure he knows that the area which you see is slightly above the middle of the pilot's crosshair and the viewer bar on the bottom.

I agree, it's a combination of good pilot and personal skill. The more you practice and raise your personal skill, the less the pilot factors into it, to a degree anyway. A totally incompetant pilot will make things difficult for even a skilled gunner.

I pride myself on piloting in such a way that my gunner racks up all the TV kills he can.... keep it level, etc... Usually I'm in TS with someone, otherwise I'll use Voip or just 'spot' things for him to take out.

I do gun from time to time as well..... Just be fast on repositioning the xhair, you don't get a huge view area, but dont let that stop you from steering one off the screen...I've been able to bend them after targets we've long left and hit them.

For air targets, lead them, lead a cobra that doesnt see you, making steering it an easy job. The hit box for the tail seems to be pretty big, I usually nail them there.

And on ground targets, you can't be casual about it, the missle has to hit. They have tremendous damage causing capabilities, taking out tanks, bh's, attack helos, etc.. all in one shot, but it has to hit...the splash damage on them is non-existant.

I used to have the same problem, until I found out that the way you make the missle change course is after you initially fire it, move the crosshairs and click the mouse button again to where you want it to go. After I learned that, I started owning up on fools.

But other than that, like everything else, it just takes practice.

On Oman which is a map I play a lot, there are lots of stinger sites. I hate to get in a Cobra as gunner and have the pilot fly wildly not letting me set up first on a stinger. I have been shot down more times because of that. I even tell them, first thing, line me up on the stingers, even if no one is in it, take it out so he can't take you down while you (the pilot) is flying like nut case. Just the other day I was gunning. The pilot came up behind the stinger where the trees block the shot. After we go passed the stingers, he then pulls up to turn around. By then we were dead meat.

Make sure you aim before firing but aim for where the tank is going rather than where it is as then you won't have to adjust as much while its moving also you need to adjust abit for the movement of the chopper before you fire as once you fire you don't have that manuverability so its best to aim first then fire.
