Do I need SP2 to install Patch 1.03??

Do you guys think that not having Windows SP2 has something to do witht he Patching Failed? Reason I dont have it is cuz it slows my startup like hell when i update to SP2. I get Patching Error all the freaking time. And yes I've searched the EA and Totalbf2.com forums for solutions and I cant find any that work. I have tried copying from Temp folder and unpacking itt to the bf2 directory and the cmd window just closes half way through the process.

You prob should have SP2 installed due to all the bug/security fixes anyhow though.
