I have lingered on this site for awhile picking up things here and there and decided to post how I got some of my jewelry. When I first started this game, I never really payed attention to the awards, I just played and had fun and sometimes it would just pop up..."youve been reccomended for ...yada, yada, yada." I continued playing and came to a point where they kinda stopped and certainly didnt come as often. Well I couldnt have that, it was time for the fun to stop. By the way, nothing Ive ever done in the game is stat padding..I dont approve of it at all. You can look at my stats and see my highest round is only a 123....I still dont know how people find it fun to get 400 in a round of padding.
Some awards I dont remember how I got them, but for the ones I do remember, Ill tell ya. First off, youve got to stop playing as a lone wolf. Ive done 100 hrs as one and regret it as it will take longer to get the Distinguished Service Medal, not to mention, youll get more kills, kill assist and less deaths in a squad. When you play as Commander, try to play as a kit that you dont have enough hours for. Youll need 15 hours in each kit for the Veteran Badges. That also goes for times youre in armor, planes and choppers....it all counts as time in that kit. Whatever your squad needs at that time overrides anything though.
Well start with the Good Conduct Medal. Its not easy to get 27 kills in a round without any team damage at all. My saving grace was Wake. Its better to be Chinese and Fly the J-10. Soon as you take off, head for all the USMC boats coming off the carrier, use guns only. Take out 1 or 2 boats and then head west of the carrier....do a 180 heading to the carrier level with the carrier. Use guns to take out the AA on the side of the carrier, then head north of the carrier heading to out of bounds....180 back and slowing down. Here youll have more boats and the blackhawk will have lifted off and be halfway on the map...slow for any chopper, guns allways, fire 1 missle immediately and when the flares are gone, spam your missles making sure youre paying attention to the minimap first to see if there are any friendlies in that same direction. Rinse and repeat. Do not die...make it a point not to get greedy with choppers or getting too close to the ground or youll be back on the tarmac with 4 others looking to fly. Be careful with those bombs.
Ive got every ribbon except the War College. I dont see me getting that sucker. All Ribbons are pretty self explanatory. The last one I got was the Legion Of Merit. I had gotten the requirements twice and never got it. I then switched to an EA sever on Karkland as a Medic and got it easily. One thing that bothers me is my death streak which shows 32. One week it was at 8...then it switched to 16 the next week and 32 the next. I have no idea if its a bug...its not me I assure you. All of my other stats are correct though. I did get the Legion of Merit when it showed 32.
Veteran Combat Badges......All combat badges require time in service before you can go for the IAR requirements. Once you meet the time reqs, youll need 20 kills a kit except for sniper. I selected the kit and jumped in a plane, got the kills, got the badge. If you arent good in a plane, try armor or a helo. I had never tried the "play commander and get it" version.
My Veteran Pistol Combat was done on Sharqi and not Karkland as Im sure most have done. I actually thought it was pretty easy to get....just hang around that middle flag and youll do fine. The Knife Combat is a different story. It was a nightmare for me to get. I didnt get it till after the patch and I believe thats why I wont make First Seargent. I got it on Karkland after "an embarrasing amount" of tries. I played as MEC and initially got 2 kills in the meatgrinder area, but I was gettin peppered with nades and arty. I was halfway through the round and was thinkin I wasnt gettin it again. Then the US took the 2nd flag in.....the one with the long climbable ladder. We held that first flag still and I came around to the West of the now held US flag. Right there is a wooden fence that can be destroyed and also where people spawn. I got the 5 kills in a span of 2 minutes right there. I still dont have the Veteran Knife and wont even try to get it till Im eligible for the Marksman Infantry Medal Which is in another 200 hrs.
Veteran Explosive Ordinance Badge....I took a cue from this site and went to Karkland throwing C4 over the fence. 23 kills is alot and a few times netted me killing myself as well. The expert badge is like 37 kills. Unless they bring in a nuke for the game, I dont see how Ill get that puppy.
Veteran Engineer Badge....next to the knife, this was the hardest. I finally had to choose a smaller number of players on a bigger map. It was done on Zatar. I stayed in a buggy and followed vehicles around repairing them and the assets. It took most of the game.
Veteran First Aid....Did it on Karland. Throw down packs near the meatgrinder and the outskirts, it was pretty easy as badges go. Make sure you bind a quick button to the health packs and defib whenever you play as a medic. I do different controls for different kits. I have 2 quick buttons for each kit and 1 quick button for the main gun in each kit For the 2 button as Medic, its health and defib... Support, nades and ammo...Assault, M203 and pistol...Sniper, pistol and claymores...Engy, nades and pistol...Spec, C4 and pistol...AT, AT and pistol.
Veteran Resupply...(see Veteran First Aid above)
Veteran Air Defense and Ground Defense..Blah....not sure Ill ever get these as the time required is alot. Good Luck.
PS....if anyone can tell me what Im doing wrong with my sig, Id be grateful. It looks weird and some of my Vet badges arent showing up
