custom maps

There are so many custom maps released now and many are absolutely brilliant, much better than the officail releases, so why arent any of them hosted on servers so we can play them online ?

By the way, thanks to you guys out there who take the time and trouble to make custom maps

There are 144 servers at the moment all running custom maps. You just have to be able to find them.

I use ASE which has a filter for custom maps.

Well if you're asking :

a) Why aren't EA accepting maps designed by the community, taking a look at them and putting them on ranked servers when verified/tested?

I'd say that it's a pity it doesn't work like that. True it'll be pretty cool but it's never something I would expect from the company.

b) Why can't we host custom maps on ranked servers?

'cos stats would be worthless afterwards. I've joined ranked servers playing custom maps where it was unbalanced so that 1 side always won the game. It was just too easy to get points without cheating in the game. here are already a lot of threads in here concerning custom maps on ranked servers.


p.s. Out of that list of 144 there is 1 ranked server.
