although a good gun, and definetly, for me, the most noticable weapon that seems to have gotten an increase in killing players, is the G36C. Its certainly not the "best" unlock, alot of it depends on playstyle. The G3 was my first unlock, and the PKM was my second. The PKM is definetly, for me, a better gun the the G36C, as im sure other guns are better for others (shotguns for shotgun players maybe?).

since the patch Arty, ive noticed, rains down in more crutial areas... regardless of friendly's. something commanders were more cautious of in fear of teamkills which are now, nonexistant.

Check the gun accuracies in the config files and come back...so yes, the G36C, as far as accuracy and power go, is better. It may not be the most powerful, but you can hit a target easier with this weapon with its full clip before other weapons run out of ammo.

The G36C is damn accurate, both in the config file and in real-time. I base my fact off previous discussions and actual documented data.

I figure the biggest reason you see more people with it, is the increase in ranks. Most people have seen and read that the G36C is a great and accurate weapon, therefore they pick it. Just because a person's playstyle changes which weapon he will choose next, doesn't make any other unlocked weapon better.

EDIT: I'm not sure if these are the same with patch 1.03, but here are the accuracy settings for the guns in 1.02 (lower rating means better accuracy)

G36C - 0.12
M4/QBZ-97 - 0.15
AKS-74U - 0.20
M16A2/L85A1 - 0.3
AK101/47 - 0.45
G3 - 0.5

Agreed. If there are great helo pilots, they normally run the show. Even the greatest of jet pilots can't take one out when he spins to avoid the lock-on.

Ever since the patch though, and for a good reason, you can't capt. a flag as fast as you could because of the "pilot" and "driver" only being able to capture. This in itself allows for infantry and ground based vehicles to prevent some quick flag capts.
