Getting Sergeant Major

first of all sorry if someone has already made a thread about this.

I have a couple veteran badges and you need all the basic badges to get promoted to Sergeant Major and only the basic ones

For 1st sergeant you can only have basic ones, is this the same thing for Sergeant Major.
